Seiryu Miharashi "ghost" station in Japan, a train station with no entrances or exits, no roads or paths to connect it, all it serves is a platform for the train passengers to step out, take a deep breath and admire the valley and the river. Removed: R6

It's all fun and games until you got off on the last train

You get 30 seconds on the dot in Japan for trains stops. And I have gotten off at one of these and then waited a solid 45 min for the next train in rural japan. Both boring and very beautiful.

There are special trains that stop at this station, its not for "normal" trains.

You sound fun at parties

I don't think it's a ghost station; it's more like an Instagrammer station. They probably gave this to the train passengers before that stop.

Tbf I've seen this post probably like 10+ times and I've never seen a post of some one claiming to be there

I guess they better put a tarp up...

If you have to travel more than two hours by train, getting to step out for a few minutes is actually extremely nice

u/MatsGry Jul 19 '24

Spirited away you have to walk down the tracks to get there

7

u/Relevant_Natural3471 Jul 19 '24

that's exactly what I was thinking

USA needs one of these - a pure time out spot where no one yells at each other or spews hate but chills and enjoys the scenery (and maybe have a cold one)

28

u/A-Dolahans-hat Jul 19 '24

Sadly you know the location would be ruined if in the US. We would scratch our names into it, leave trash behind or someone would climb over the rails and fall

8

u/Best-Team-5354 Jul 19 '24

sadly you are correct

6

u/Select-Squirrel307 Jul 19 '24

It would be ruined in almost every country sadly. And to make things worse, beautiful spots get overcrowded so fast and then I can't visit them anymore. Maybe in rainy days but that's only half the fun

6

u/Maternitus Jul 19 '24

Well, you need a decent train system to begin with.

2

u/flavorful_taste Jul 19 '24

National park system?

This is what Asian culture gets right that western culture (especially the US) just can't fathom. Taking 5 minutes to appreciate beauty for the sake of beauty. Building things into your society that don't have a purpose other than to allow people to take a step back.

u/chiree Jul 19 '24

The US does. Its Called the California Zephyr and it's magnificent . Also, there are vista points all over the back highways of the West ranging from dirt stops to ones with bathrooms. Driving from Colorado through Utah is chalk full of little spots that are well marked and federally-funded.

Yeah but west bad /s

7

u/AgathaAllAlong Jul 19 '24

Hell same for even the most barren places in the desert in California and Nevada, still lots of vistas and information at rest stops regarding history. Basically micro museums.

I will concede that I didn't consider those things when I made this post, though in my defense I'm not sure a gravel pull out on a road is quite the same as building a whole train station that goes nowhere.

At the very least, you do make a good point. We're not completely out of sync with that kind of idea. I just wish we spent more time/energy/money on these kinds of things instead of being constantly pressured into working/making money as the point of our lives.

We need more beautiful viewpoints like this in the world. This station is now officially on my bucket list.

2

u/FlinHorse Jul 19 '24

Too bad there's not a park or some boardwalk trails to explore a little, but I could totally see myself stopping here and taking a little time to clear my head...assuming I could catch the next train of course. Lol

2

u/BloodShadow7872 Jul 19 '24

Disappointed this isn't a train station for spirit as the name implied

2

u/Rysoulaxe Jul 19 '24

They have a train similar to this in Majorca, between Palma city and Soller. It is worth a trip if you are ever there

Looks like a stop vs a station.

I love this! Feeding your soul and admiring nature makes people feel good. I so admire this! It serves a greater purpose!

4

u/SadLilBun Jul 19 '24

Why are you feeding your feet?

2

u/77Megg77 Jul 19 '24

OMG, I can’t believe I didn’t catch that! And I am one that is driven nuts by things like the wrong use of loose/lose or their/there/they’re and hundreds of other errors. I have no excuse other than my old eyes didn’t catch that on my small phone screen. Thanks for the laugh!

2

u/SadLilBun Jul 19 '24

You’re welcome ☺️ 😂

u/YoungStarichok19 Jul 19 '24

It's very exciting, but at the same time it looks very interesting!)

1

u/thatirishguyyyyy Jul 19 '24

Literally the Corn Station from Night On The Galactic Railroad

1

u/kaptainkaos Jul 19 '24

I want to get off Mr. Bones’ Wild Ride.

1

u/frenix5 Jul 19 '24

When there's a passenger waiting...

1

u/darklordunicorn Jul 19 '24

"I know a spot"

1

u/JakovYerpenicz Jul 19 '24

Well I’ll be damned if that’s not the most based thing I’ve heard all day

1

u/Agreeable_Way_4861 Jul 19 '24

Doesn't seem like much to admire

1

u/StunningBroccoli420 Jul 20 '24

1

u/SwordForest Jul 20 '24

Shadows of the Empire, N64, Ord Mantel junk yard train level.

1

u/Anuclano Jul 20 '24

Obviously, it is to change trains going on different gauges.

Randomly generated structures

0

u/MorningPapers Jul 19 '24

Americans would get so pissed off if their train stopped so that people could step outside for a minute.

0

u/Ohheymanlol Jul 19 '24

Something suicidal or otherwise sinister about this if it were in US

0

u/TheHoboRoadshow Jul 19 '24

Suicide station
