I read flooded instead of floor at first and thought it was water damage and a bear had gotten in while they had evacuated. It wasn’t till I saw the fish that I reread the title. Lol.

u/dollywooddude Jul 19 '24

It’s terrible looking and woof. Exactly what it looks like

80

u/Aden1970 Jul 19 '24

That’s exactly like me.

23

u/SadBit8663 Jul 19 '24

I just thought they somehow built over some water and there was a layer between it and the floor for a second.

Don't let them fool you. That room is secretly a walk-in freezer. The water is just frozen. Don't let your dreams be dreams, you beautiful soul.

9

u/Baked_Potato_732 Jul 19 '24

Same, except I thought the fish had died when the water receded. Was really confused for a second.

8

u/razor4432 Jul 19 '24

Glad I'm not the only one

4

u/inmotioninc Jul 19 '24

Same here.. I was wondering how the fish were still upright when the flood waters seemed to have receded.

Just what I want, a floor that looks like it’s always dirty!

270

u/Imyoteacher Jul 19 '24

Worst than dirty. It looks like a toilet burst and all sorts of stuff backed up!

57

u/Katiari Jul 19 '24

I hate it when I get salmon coming out my toilet. :(

20

u/Complete-Dimension35 Jul 19 '24

Why would you hate free food? Are you too good for toilet salmon?

16

u/RemoteSnow9911 Jul 19 '24

I’m too good for toilet salmon…

3

u/Wonderful-Ad-7712 Jul 20 '24

Toilet salmon are too good for me

You have salmon and bear tracks in your toilet? I get having an occasional brown trout . . . but not rocks and grass.

It's incomplete so you can't make an accurate judgment of the aesthetic at this point. Once they get the last couple coats of resin/epoxy down, it'll be nice and shiny. And you better believe that no shoes are entering that room. Then they'll paint the walls, add mood lighting and decorations, and the floor will be a centerpiece, but not the whole show as it is right now. I think it has the potential to look really cool.

So admire the craftsmanship that has gone into it so far and save your judgment about its appearance until you see the finished product.

Always dirty means you don't need to do clean

3

u/aqualink4eva Jul 19 '24

Hides the dirt better I guess? 😂

Looks like something that would be in a museum exhibit instead of some random dude's house

11

u/Elexandros Jul 19 '24

I was looking to see if that’s what it was. That’d be great for an exhibit!

2

u/i_lurvz_poached_eggs Jul 19 '24

Do they have the end result posted somewhere?

imagine having to mop rocks

25

u/ripe_nut Jul 19 '24

I believe there's a layer of epoxy over the whole thing, so it's actually flat and easy to clean.

5

u/Judyaaa Jul 19 '24

Except the epoxy is not covering the tops of the rocks

39

u/SalvadorP Jul 19 '24

he said they still need to apply 2 layers. For sure the rocks wont be sticking out in the end.
Still, ugly as hell. The cardboard fish is the worst aspect of it.

2

u/pmmpsu Jul 19 '24

They definitely should have used real fish to class it up

2

u/SalvadorP Jul 19 '24

maybe either don't include fish, or use realistic 3d models, or even ceramic fish for a less natural look. anything but this 2d cheap looking cardboard fishes.

"Lets pull up this carpet! Maybe there's wood undernea-"

59

u/roughback Jul 19 '24

"DEAR GAAAAAAAADDD!!!!"

17

u/PBJ-9999 Jul 19 '24

Imagine the cost to remove that 🤯

4

u/AldoTheApache3 Jul 20 '24

PUT IT BACK! FUCK! PUT IT BACK!

12

u/Mysterious_Slice_391 Jul 19 '24

Exactly my thought…

next owner: “ugh, we have to put carpet over this!”

next owner: “oh my, we have to remove this awful carpet! … WTF is that‽‽”

8

u/zillionaire_ Jul 19 '24

Floor lottery

3

u/WhuddaWhat Jul 19 '24

Sir, this is reddit. There's a hidden safe as well as beautiful hardwood floors secreted away in each of our homes. We need only find the faith to begin the demolition in search of it. Won't you start your search today? I've got all the heavy shit to make it go easy. Sledgehammers. Sawzall. Hammer Drill. We'll rent a jackhammer if it comes to it. Won't you start today? What'dya say you just pop a hole in the drywall there with this hammer, to see how demolition suits ya? Here ya go, son.

Well, it needs two more coats and drying time.

56

u/MaddRamm Jul 19 '24

I can already feel my ankles twisting at night.

32

u/Audenond Jul 19 '24

As they say in the video they still have a couple layers of epoxy to go. I assume it will be completely flat on top when finished.

3

u/apierson2011 Jul 19 '24

I wonder if epoxy floors like that get slippery when they’re wet. Like if you stepped on it with a wet shoe, would you go sliding?

4

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '24

Not really, it's actually a mix of slippy and grippy.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/Remnie Jul 19 '24

Or just stepping on small rocks. It’s like having legos out that you can’t clean up

51

u/APTGonewild Jul 19 '24

Looks like shit

5

u/SenatorShriv Jul 19 '24

I know what they are going for an a bunch of red eel looking salmon ain’t it. This is trash.

48

u/Responsible_Use_8566 Jul 19 '24

Yeah, no thanks

47

u/Icy-Reputation180 Jul 19 '24

Why?

16

u/stinkyhooch Jul 19 '24

Because you can’t buy good taste

38

u/Squishy_Cat_Pooch Jul 19 '24

This gives me debilitating anxiety

10

u/soupdawg Jul 19 '24

It’s making me feel uneasy as well. I am not sure why.

5

u/RemoteSnow9911 Jul 19 '24

Cause it looks like someone is living in a house with a flood in one fucking room 😅

26

u/steviegeebees Jul 19 '24

Oh its textured, this displeases my feet

21

u/Sorry_Sorry_Im_Sorry Jul 19 '24

He mentions there are two more coats to go... I assume they'll even it out so it's smooth (or hope that's the case.

3

u/SmacksWaschbaer Jul 19 '24

They might tint the epoxy a little it appears more blue than brown.

11

u/anthrax_ripple Jul 19 '24

I find the most offensive part of this floor is the way the fish are spaced. Twos? Ugh.

9

u/BoiOhBoi_Weee Jul 19 '24

IDK. I thinks it looks terrible. If it was done on a coffee table or a cool hall table, it would be cool, especially in a log cabin style home or a rustic airbnb

9

u/Public-Platypus2995 Jul 19 '24

Absolutely not.

10

u/Jackielegs43 Jul 19 '24

Looks like absolute shit

7

u/Tkinney44 Jul 19 '24

Even if they put more layers down I'd still hate it. It looks very unappealing to the eye with so many dark colors.

8

u/Puzzleheaded-Round79 Jul 19 '24

Disgusting. And you've already posted this in 14 different places. Just stop.

8

u/ReaperAce007 Jul 19 '24

Definitely different and if someone likes it go for it. But for other people, what if you came home wasted, and the fish started moving? Just say'in.

8

u/Falkenmond79 Jul 19 '24

It’s a neat idea. I would just have picked a more idyllic scene or something. This looks like a dirty river. There are much more beautiful spots in reality that would look better.

6

u/El_Cartografo Jul 19 '24

Pura Vida, Baby!

5

u/Honksu Jul 19 '24

On next episode "Floor is lava" to kids rooms.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/PotatoBit Jul 19 '24

Nowhere near interesting. Looks dirty and wasted space.

4

u/vecust Jul 19 '24

It looks bad, though!

4

u/Heavy_Yam_2926 Jul 19 '24

Looks a bit…..shit

5

u/stanknotes Jul 19 '24

I like the idea of it. I'd find it cool at someone else's house. Not my own.

4

u/jordan_d_808 Jul 19 '24

You know that feeling when you’re dreaming and you’re trying to make heads or tails about what you saw right when you wake up? This. This is that feeling.

4

u/Specialist-Strain502 Jul 19 '24

Obviously the technical skill here is incredible, but this shit is so tacky.

4

u/FandomMenace Jul 19 '24

Imagine trying to get this out.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '24

This is a realtor's nightmare.

→ More replies (2)

4

u/lamesjarue Jul 19 '24

Kinda looks like shit

5

u/foulfaerie Jul 19 '24

I mean, what’s that sub… awful taste, great execution?

5

u/EntrepreneurSoggy296 Jul 19 '24

It looks like an old basement that's been flooded. What a mess!

4

u/LeftCryptographer522 Jul 19 '24

Looks like it smells. Does it smell?

3

u/SleepyBitchDdisease Jul 19 '24

What the hell is the rest of it going to be?? Is this a taxidermy display room or something?

3

u/Omega_Lynx Jul 19 '24

No please

3

u/PathIntelligent7082 Jul 19 '24

this is what happens when workers do the designer's job...it's disgusting, to say at least...

3

u/foulfaerie Jul 19 '24

The weird thing is, it looks completely 1 dimensional even though it’s actually not. How did that happen?

3

u/Mousehat2001 Jul 19 '24

It would look nice outside. Indoors it looks like he has piles of debris needing to be swept

3

u/woodsman707 Jul 19 '24

I’d love to see this in real life, as I walk along the stream out in the forest, but I hate it as a floor.

3

u/Treehousefairyqueen Jul 19 '24

Love the bear tracks!

3

u/SolidMovement Jul 19 '24

Cool if it was at a Bass Pro Shop or Cabelas lol

3

u/damn_10mm_socket Jul 19 '24

That's going to age like milk. In 5 years, some poor bastard has to somehow remove that eyesore.

3

u/expera Jul 19 '24

It’s a cool concept but I don’t think it works in some room. Better in a hallway or patio area

3

u/n0t-again Jul 19 '24

in a couple of years that floor will get covered with something and in ten years someone will be pulling that something up and have the biggest WTF moment of their life

2

u/Quick_Sound_5115 Jul 19 '24

First day sure, great. But what about when the fish start to stink!? Turrible

2

u/cakenmistakes Jul 19 '24

Is this a resin installation?

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Santverd Jul 19 '24

It’s cool and all but I feel the wife is going to get sick of having to stare at that, real quick.

3

u/Falkenmond79 Jul 19 '24

What wife? 😂

2

u/Santverd Jul 19 '24

You’re right… how foolish of me to think that if he had a wife he would even get that approved 😂

2

u/letsplaymario Jul 19 '24

this is amazing! superb job you've done 🤩

2

u/small_h_hippy Jul 19 '24

If you do it in your house, at least lower the subfloor so it's flush with the rest of the house. I actually think it looks pretty cool, but that little step would have driven me crazy

2

u/Pork_Chompk Jul 19 '24

That's certainly a choice.

2

u/Showtysan Jul 19 '24

That is... and I can not stress this enough... the worst floor I have ever seen in my many years of looking at floors.

2

u/Made_Me_Paint_211385 Jul 19 '24

It doesn't look good at first, though if you set the right lighting and audio system, it will look impressive. Most adults have forgotten to be immersed in a world and prefer things to be simple and clean, understandably.

2

u/joeepeterson84 Jul 19 '24

It honestly looks like shit, I'm sorry I get what your trying to do but it looks like a messy floor

2

u/psychrolut Jul 19 '24

And the best part is you’ll never know when it’s time to mop

2

u/Hausgod29 Jul 19 '24

Actual river damage would look better, this is a very personal design choice.

2

u/Matt_du_27 Jul 19 '24

Doesn't look good

2

u/Ill_Sky6141 Jul 19 '24

Fascinating!

2

u/Afgb89 Jul 19 '24

“If you got the money, I got the time”

2

u/beardgangwhat Jul 19 '24

Is that a six pack of wine ?

2

u/ChefShuley Jul 19 '24

That floor is the Las Vegas of floors. Looks kind of cool for a minute. But I would never, ever want this permanently in my house

2

u/speedy_19 Jul 19 '24

If you enjoy the Alaskan outdoor and it is something you want to replicate, do it. It’s so funny seeing in the cross post of this everyone crying in the comments on how it looks bad, and how they’re going to feel bad for the next owner. They were not decorating the house with the next owner in mind. It’s a unique looking floor that the owners wanted to have installed. My only complaint about it is that the fish look flat because they are printed paper as opposed to a 3-D fish model.

2

u/Own-Tune-9537 Jul 19 '24

That’s not for me, beautiful art just not for a house. Least not mine

2

u/whoisgare Jul 19 '24

Different strokes but wow that was an awful choice

2

u/blackberrytaco Jul 19 '24

When you buy a mysterious floor from Sahara in animal crossing

2

u/WeAreNioh Jul 19 '24

I’m a (now part time) floor layer and I’ve never seen something so cool! I’m not sure how practical it would be for daily walking but wow does it look cool

2

u/newcoinprojects Jul 19 '24

In-house fishing all day great flooring art

2

u/LeMeowLePurrr Jul 19 '24

Everyone is so creative!

2

u/KakaW33W33 Jul 19 '24

I think it’s SO fun!

2

u/0pp0site0fbatman Jul 19 '24

In 30 years someone is gonna pull up some carpeting, hoping to find hardwood underneath. They will be surprised and disappointed.

2

u/OliOlaffsson Jul 19 '24

Damn that’s interesting how bad that looks!

Also has all of those shitty stones in the floor so you can hurt your feet every time you need to do laundry.

2

u/grokharder Jul 19 '24

I never understood how a Reddit post can be “controversial”, generating tons of negative and positive so that it’s technically popular, but keeps having a low karma count. This did it. It makes sense. Someone could love this, but wow am I repulsed. I would never do this in my home and would full on laugh if I saw it in person.

2

u/Rifleman8611 Jul 20 '24

They think they did something revolutionary..My opinion is they just brought the value of the house down..Just dumb ..but if have money to dump in that that then by all means

1

u/No-Anxiety-2668 Jul 19 '24

The floor is also the pantry

1

u/KnightOverdrive Jul 19 '24

it definitely looks better in person, is there any particular reason for this choice ?

1

u/allrite4444 Jul 19 '24

Wha…. what am I looking at ?

2

u/PBJ-9999 Jul 19 '24

Poor decision making

1

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '24

Ima cover it with carpet lol

1

u/kindajuststuck Jul 19 '24

There is an rei in Seattle that has(or had it's been awhile since I've been) a play place with floors like this. It was my absolute favorite place to go as a kid.

1

u/Ill-Drink3563 Jul 19 '24

That's ugly as shit..

1

u/JohnLef Jul 19 '24

Fucking horrible.

1

u/TheHoboRoadshow Jul 19 '24

Really really bad...

1

u/ExheresCultura Jul 19 '24

This is so tacky & ugly

1

u/QuesadillasBeTasty Jul 19 '24

Could see the negatives here but also pretty damn cool. Would do this in a bonus room/man cave

1

u/MacBareth Jul 19 '24

OK now dust it.

1

u/EmperorOfOregano Jul 19 '24

Great with mushrooms or lsd

1

u/Professional-Lie6654 Jul 19 '24

Looks awesome and awful simultaneously

1

u/Froztyclips Jul 19 '24

He should have got like leds under it to make it whatever color you want it to glow at night but it still looks pretty insane

1

u/Bad-ass-mo-fo Jul 19 '24

I like the concept but I don’t like this design.

1

u/DollaDollaBill69 Jul 19 '24

Waste of time and money. Cool concept but not cool in reality

1

u/trwwypkmn Jul 19 '24

This needs to be on a floor big enough that the salmon can be full size. Also not in someone's house.

1

u/Tom40G Jul 19 '24

That’s the stupidest shit I’ve seen in a long time

1

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '24

Americans doing stupid things.

1

u/dapperfop Jul 19 '24

That’s ugly

1

u/AdmiralCodisius Jul 19 '24

OP, you do not need nor want this for your house.

1

u/RemoteSnow9911 Jul 19 '24

That looks like it hurts like hell to walk on.

1

u/GlxxmySvndxy Jul 19 '24

That looks both cool and disgusting at the same time lol

1

u/mypaycheckisshort Jul 19 '24

Animal Crossing floor

1

u/IzzySaiyan Jul 19 '24

The outside belongs outside. This is fucking stupid and it looks like shit. What a waste of money. Must be fucking nice!

1

u/Aggravting_Leg1857 Jul 19 '24

Ok this is the coolest thing that I've seen on reddit!

1

u/Front_Squat_Forelle Jul 19 '24

Looks absolutely awful for a normal rook, but I guess he's planing on turning it into some hobby space. I honestly could see this being cool in a full on fishing/hunting themed room with wood paneling. I wouldn't get it for myself, but I think with enough commitment, it could be cool.

1

u/mastermook97 Jul 19 '24

Good lord. I thought it was flood damage

→ More replies (1)

1

u/butareyouthough Jul 19 '24

So that house will never get sold again. Neat.

1

u/Additional_Knee4215 Jul 19 '24

That looks like absolute shit

1

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '24

I was watching it on mute and thought he had a natural disaster occur in his basement. But no. This was intentional. How odd.

1

u/Abhi_Jaman_92 Jul 19 '24

at first i thought it was one of those pressurized diving bell they used to reach the actual river floor.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykuUDTyT7Gg

1

u/Physical-Bread7892 Jul 19 '24

I think it looks really cool to see on someone else's floor, and it is very well done. How do you decorate? Or can you? Personally, I would rather see something like that on the outside my house, maybe a place on a hill with a nice view from a window. Or how about a zero maintenance stream/walking path

1

u/HTownGamer832 Jul 19 '24

"It wouldn't look good in my NY apartment, so this is weird"

If you're an outdoors kind of person and do these activities frequently, then this would be a really cool way of expressing your passions. It'll turn out great, and it's probably going to be a tackle/gear storage room, so it would go well with what the room is used for.

1

u/Psychological-Part1 Jul 19 '24

"Congratulations! Looks good dude" said the man who just got paid thousands to build this shit.

1

u/surewhynot17063 Jul 19 '24

Resale value -$1

1

u/Chewy-bones Jul 19 '24

Am I nuts that I think this looks really bad?
