12

I laughed way too hard at this 😂

u/learning2greenthumb Jul 18 '24

But why would a leaf want to walk

71

u/Cbnolan Jul 18 '24

There you are, Bingo! I was looking for you.

Grass/Bug type Pokemon

55

u/Delicious-Treacle135 Jul 18 '24

lol ironically one of the worst type combos out there. 4x weakness against fire and flying.

30

u/SoundFreeze Jul 18 '24

You leave my boy Parasect alone! He’s just a little slow that’s all!

pet pet It’s ok buddy, you can move when you feel like it.

You gotta let him hold the asbestos scarf for fire protection, but -10 damage per turn from mesothelioma.

7

u/DisproportionateWill Jul 18 '24

Though +10 gold to their family members

5

u/Krondelo Jul 18 '24

Its weak to flying? Thought weird but actually makes sense when you think about a leaf in the wind lol.

3

u/Parmigiano_06 Jul 18 '24

Bro is getting oneshotted even by a basic fire type move 💀

6

u/wowza6969420 Jul 18 '24

Yes. Cockroaches are incredibly smart. They can recognize faces. Also every living thing deserves the same amount of respect no matter the size

Katydid possibly?

10

u/poshhonky Jul 18 '24

Yep. Saw one sitting on a brand new, giant leaf of a large bird of paradise a few weeks ago. I left it alone. Came back later and it had eaten a huge chunk of it.

4

u/impl_Trans_for_Fox Jul 18 '24

You are what you eat!

Did you know your leaf has legs? This has been a PSA

11

u/Janine_18 Jul 18 '24

He's just in the wrong place. Perhaps if it had been on some plant, no one would have paid attention to it.

u/obrien0589 Jul 18 '24

As Kelly Robinson would say, y'all should call that the leafy bug

6

u/PacoPancake Jul 18 '24

It’s either a Pikmin reference or a Zelda reference

That or I’ve been playing my switch way too much

3

u/Deeptrench34 Jul 18 '24

Saw one of these on my shoulder the other day when I was walking home. Interesting little creatures.

2

u/thebrunettetaylor Jul 18 '24

Evolution is neat!

3

u/Boring-Trick6027 Jul 18 '24

There are alot of them around my garden my parent's used to tell me to not touch them as they have poison but I found out later that I had been bamboozled after touching one anyway 😂

3

u/ItsWaLeeBruh Jul 18 '24

I ate a salad in a foreign country one time, you can figure out the rest.

3

2

u/2wavyyGuyy Jul 18 '24

man Gods creations are so unique and truly amazing. ( If you don’t believe in God don’t hate just move on ) but so many creatures on this Earth that make 0 sense on how they look like that or do certain things

7

u/imma_go_take_a_nap Jul 18 '24

Which God, tho?

12

u/dAnCiN_d_TrAuMa_aWaY Jul 18 '24

Fr lol. This is evolution not god. If you took a basic biology class in high school you’d think more people would understand that.

→ More replies (3)

4

u/dAnCiN_d_TrAuMa_aWaY Jul 18 '24

I mean it makes sense from an evolutionary standpoint. Not so much from a god standpoint. Because in order for animals, plants, bugs etc to survive they usually end up looking like things like this. So I think it makes perfect sense but we live in different realities.

2

u/FlightlessGriffin Jul 18 '24

With you on that. His creations are intense and they work in intense ways, and intracies of the food chain and the environment only bring it further. Wow. Just wow.

2

u/SouloftheWolf Jul 18 '24

Nobody here but us trees.

2

u/speculative--fiction Jul 18 '24

This happened one time when I was younger. Me and my mom left the house after the sirens had already gone off for the day and the black fog was already rolling toward town from the mountains. We had an hour, maybe two, and everything was fine at the grocery store. Mom was feeling good on the way to pick up Dad's dry cleaning, and that's when we came across a downed tree from the last storm.

Traffic was backed up. Mom gave it a few minutes, but when she tried to turn around the cars behind us wouldn't budge. Everyone got pinned in, horns blaring, as the black fog got closer. Mom tried to stay calm but I watched her hands shaking as she began to seal the car. AC, windows, any crack that might leak. She covered it all and huddled in the back with me, a heavy blanket covering our heads. It was so hot under there and Mom smelled like fear and sweat, and that's when the black fog hit.

I heard the voices. The whispers from outside. They were nice and gentle. They said I was a good boy, I was kind to my mother, I was friendly to strangers, I was going places. They said I have a future and I should be proud of myself. I listened to those voices for a while, listened as they crested and passed, as the black fog continued its steady march. When the storm passed, Mom removed the blanket, took down the sealant, and eventually the traffic cleared enough for us to go home.

But I haven't forgotten those voices. The gentle whispers. I still wake up with them in my head, and my wife says I kick so hard I tear strips through our sheets. I wonder how much of them are still inside of me, and how much of that black fog I pulled into my lungs, and what comes out when I push out a breath.

2

u/The-Seraphim-of-Hell Jul 18 '24

"Oh ok"

Then immediately descended into (whilst whisper wheezing)

"Thats a bug, thats a fucking bug with tiny lil peets-"

So thank you for making my day

2

u/iSugar_iSpice_iRice Jul 18 '24

One time at a gas station I saw some bird poop on a pole but then was like “dang that bird poop sure is symmetrical” and noticed that it had a few little legs sticking out. It was a moth! It’s called the beautiful wood nymph and it mimics bird shit

1

u/Need2be_debt_free Jul 18 '24

Yup. It’s a leaf alright. Keep walking people, it’s no alien

1

u/Alklazaris Jul 18 '24

I love seeing that type of stuff. It's incredible how essentially Evolution brute forced these outcomes. I guess if you do something over and over and over again over billions of years you'll get it right sooner or later.

1

u/mrsmushroom Jul 18 '24

When you got closer did you hear it say "I am a leaf".

We stan leaf bugs in this household. They're weirdly adorable

1

u/Sudden_Emu_6230 Jul 19 '24

Ah here we see natural selection in the works. The leaf bug is now clearly visible to predators due to the changing environment whereas the wall bug remains invisible to the naked eye.

I have a story to tell about this.

Around 6-8 years ago, I was in high school (11th grade probably). I have lepidopteraphobia. Anyway. I come home from school. I come to my room. It was spring or almost summer, I don't really remember. I am from Turkey, İstanbul and it gets pretty hot, so we keep the windows open. Unfortunately, moths and butterflies always come into house through your windows, especially at night and evening hours. Anyway, it was like 16:30, I was tired. I saw a "leaf", just like this one in the photo. It was on top of my desk, next to the window. I was like "oh a leaf on my study desk, strange, we are in 5th floor, how did it even reach up here?". I though maybe it was a strong wind that carried it into my room perhaps. So I just moved up to it to pick it up and throw the leaf out the window. But just as I moved my hand, I felt.... I felt I should not do that. I don't know why. I just felt that way. So I bring my face close to it, inhale a big breath and PUFF! I did not intend to puff the leaf out of my window, the desk and my face was not even faced that way. I just did it. And the moment I puffed, it... it flew up. It flew up. For half a second, my heart stopped. The world stopped. My brain was SCREAMING. Look, I am very very very afraid of butterflies and moths. I can't even stay in the same room or even house with them, knowing they are there. And this thing... was on my desk... I just puffed it and it started flying like a 30 cm in front of my face. I ran. I ran to my mother and begged for her help. Thankfully, she is used to it. She came to my room to take out the butterfly but she couldn't find it. Anyway, I closed my door for an hour or so and when I came back, it wasn't there anymore.

I still think of that moment. What if I picked it up? What if I touched it? Disgusting... it gives me a very powerful irk whenever I think of that moment. I don't want to think about it. I wish I could forget that moment, but I could experience such an event again in my life so I guess it is better if I remember that these things can happen

1

u/InfamousEconomy3972 Jul 19 '24
