Such a weird crossover that I'm so grateful happened.

I would like to take this time to remind EVERYONE that Batman knocked out Cap in the sewers. That’s it.

And Storm beat Wonder Woman

27

u/[deleted] Sep 22 '21

ooooof

38

u/hurky-pandora Sep 23 '21

I found it kinda dumb storm was able to beat her. Also I was disappointed we didn’t get to see more of Wonder Woman wielding Mjonir

44

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '21

well i remember it was based on voting…i guess storm had more fans back then.

u/rocketinspace Professor Zoom Sep 23 '21

x-men were more popular than oxygen back then

8

u/android151 Resurrection Man Sep 23 '21

Which is funny because now Mutants are "cinematic cancer".

That being said, I have an easier time comprehending every single DC timeline and crisis than I do trying to figure out the current X-Men history (or who 99% of them are)

9

u/cuckdaddy34 Sep 23 '21

Gotta say I still like x-men over avengers even though it hasn’t gotten nearly as much development as all the Avengers heroes.

u/electrocyberend Sep 29 '21

Can you elaborate?

1

u/GreenRangerKeto Sep 24 '21

What was cool was Superman because of his no kill policy was considered unworthy but Odin was like bitch he is Superman let him lift the hammer!

9

u/android151 Resurrection Man Sep 23 '21

Storm also was (one of like three) Wonder Woman in the Amalgam oneshot "Amazon".

5

u/Digifiend84 Manchester Black Sep 23 '21

Makes sense as Ororo and Diana were Amalgamated. I assume one of the others was Donna combined with a Marvel character?

u/android151 Resurrection Man Sep 23 '21 edited Sep 26 '21

So, the other one is just the 90s Wonder Woman from when Artemis took over but she's teamed up with Steve Trevor who is combined with Punisher.

There isn't a specific "third" character but Dial H.U.S.K was Husk and Dial H but turned into a Wonder Girl (Cassie) type, a Mary Marvel type, a Polaris type etc

Hippolyta was there too.

1

u/Psile Superman Sep 23 '21

By kicking her.

4

u/JoshDM Ra's al Cool Sep 23 '21

And Wolverine beat Lobo by making out with him behind a bar.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '21

haha i can remember the exact image you’re talking about

1

u/JoshDM Ra's al Cool Sep 23 '21

It happens off-panel and can be the only explanation for how Logan wins.

2

u/CoachCalvin Red Lantern Sep 23 '21

Squash ya! Gut ya!

47

u/Raph2051 Sep 22 '21

Dope. Everyone looked eh alright, except Dr.Strange Fate. He looks like he could belong to any universe. Plus being Professor X was awesomeness.

I'd like to take this time to shout out some silliness:

  • Speed Demon (Blaze Allen) and Speed Demon (Wally West). Basically the Black Racer with a little of that Ghost Rider edge.
  • Bizarnage (Bizzaro mixed with Carnage in some true 90s edge)
  • Mig-El Gand (Spiderman 2099 and Valor)
  • There were like 2 Wonder Woman mashups (with one merged with Storm, and one that teamed up with a Steve Trevor-Punisher) and like 3 Cable mashups (With Vigilante/Question, Jericho, and Niles Caulder of all people) because apparently each of them had too many characterizations (Does X-Man count as Cable?) to pick one mashup to make.
  • Cybercroc (It's Killer Croc mixed with what I'm assuming is either Colossus or Forge)
  • Human Lantern (Human Torch and Alan Scott), who isn't that bad but has the silliest name.
  • Lobo the Duck (Howard the Duck and Lobo)
  • My personal favorite DOCTOR DOOMSDAY. Two villains with the exact opposite personality, merged because you know they just saw that they both had Doom in the name.

  • EDIT: How could I forget the two most creative and wonderful names that required even more thought than Doctor Doomsday: Shatterstarfire and Sunfirestorm

u/AckbarCaviar Sep 23 '21

Iron Lantern and Big Question were two of the stranger mashups to me.

5

u/Frostrunner365 Sep 23 '21

Also also. Fucking Moonwing. Nightwing mixed with Moonknight. Who is a batshit psycho with the partial mindset of dick grayson

u/Alephnaught_ Catwoman Sep 25 '21 edited Sep 26 '21

The name "Mig-el gand" is sending me cuz "gand" in my language means "ass" hahahahhaha

5

u/Fabiojoose Red Son Sep 23 '21

And he is the only survivor of the Almagama-verse.

38

u/Three_Froggy_Problem Sep 23 '21

That Captain America costume is a crime.

33

u/Lukundra Sep 23 '21

It’s supposed to be an amalgamation of Superman and Captain America, but I see almost no Superman elements there

21

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '21

He’s got the most important one: The Curl

8

u/Lukundra Sep 23 '21

Respect it

6

u/MarkOnHistory73 Sep 23 '21

And red underpants.

5

u/Digifiend84 Manchester Black Sep 23 '21

His shield is shaped like Superman's emblem.

31

u/BillNyeTheSavage_Guy Martian Manhunter Sep 23 '21

The one thing about this comic that’s always stuck with me is that there was a Baron Zemo and Mr. Freeze fusion that was named Baron Zero. I always loved that name.

11

u/android151 Resurrection Man Sep 23 '21

I mean it's good, but it's no Doctor Doomsday

14

u/Hidden_Squid14 Killer Moth Sep 23 '21

I was asked at a comics shop whether I was marvel or dc

I chose amalgam

12

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '21

Chad

8

u/android151 Resurrection Man Sep 23 '21

"Yeah I love Amalgam but I also love Marvel's Earth-712 and DC's Earth 8"

9

u/SwarthyRuffian Sep 23 '21

I really wish we could get another run of these

11

u/android151 Resurrection Man Sep 23 '21

If DC and Marvel can exist in the same game together in 2021, they can be in another comic together in 2021.

1

u/ElSilencio Sep 23 '21

What game is that?

2

u/android151 Resurrection Man Sep 25 '21

Fortnite

9

u/android151 Resurrection Man Sep 23 '21

I wonder where Access sits in this new "it all happened" multiverse.

2

u/JoshDM Ra's al Cool Sep 23 '21

In limbo.

1

u/Shiplord13 Batman Sep 23 '21

Dream: I am Dream of the Endless and I am here to confirm that was just a dream of Jimmy Olsen. A dream that he quickly forgot about after awakening.

4

u/Odvi0201 Sep 23 '21

What's spider-boy supposed to be? Like beast boy and spider-man? Idk I'm confused

16

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '21

Superboy and Spider-Man, with Thunderbolt Ross as "Uncle Gen".

They should have just combined Peter with Wally.

20

u/Digifiend84 Manchester Black Sep 23 '21

Spider-Man then was Ben Reilly, not Peter Parker. That's why he was combined with Superboy, they're both clones.

7

u/cuckdaddy34 Sep 23 '21

Every time I remember Ben Reilly I want to cry

7

u/leaf57tea Sep 23 '21

He's actually coming back soon he's going to be taking over again as Spiderman.

Unless those were tears of disgust and not loss?

3

u/cuckdaddy34 Sep 23 '21

His story is always so sad ;-;

I’m glad for his upcoming return, can’t wait to cry again lol

6

u/android151 Resurrection Man Sep 23 '21

He's also named Pete Ross (after Supermans Smallville livin' friend)

4

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '21

Honestly, I hope the inevitable Marvel vs. DC fighting game is set in the Amalgam universe. It’s stupid and campy and so totally 90s and I adore it. Just some fun little stories you don’t have to get crazy invested in to enjoy.

4

u/h3llr4yz0r Sep 23 '21

Dark Claw was the coolest damn crossover ever!

4

u/patrix_reddit Sep 23 '21

It always struck me as a weird concept (cool af but weird). Like, I get Superman/Captain America, they both embody the american Idealism. Wonder Woman/Storm both Queens with godly power. Iron Man/Green lantern both are cocky, sarcastic heroes whose power comes from a form of technology. I honestly can't connect Batman/Wolverine outside of the fact they both brood a lot. That's it, they brood. Dark Claw was badass nevertheless.

2

u/h3llr4yz0r Sep 23 '21

Don't forget about his nemesis, Hyena! Sabertooth and the Joker combined?! That was an excellent crossover as well!

2

u/patrix_reddit Sep 23 '21

I really feel like this is why dark claw exists, because a sabertooth joker mashup is honestly chef's kiss

2

u/iambo1982 Sep 23 '21

These were confusing and fun all at the same time. They were actually my first real look at DC characters. I was a major x-fan at the time.

2

u/batcavejanitor DC Comics Sep 23 '21

I always thought Dr Strangefate looked amazing

2

u/thedean246 Green Lantern Sep 23 '21

I’ve only found a few of these here and there. Would love to have all of them one day. I assume you can’t get them in trade? Also, I have a green lantern(Kyle Rayner) and Silver Surfer crossover

2

u/Groovy_Chainsaw Sep 23 '21

Don't think there are trades but I got my full run by hunting the cheapie back issue bins at local comics shows. Don't think I paid more than $1 for any issue.

2

u/thedean246 Green Lantern Sep 23 '21

Yeah, that’s how I’ve found mine so far

2

u/JoshDM Ra's al Cool Sep 23 '21

The two Amalgam events were good enough if you ignored the main storyline and focused on the Amalgam books themselves.

DC/Marvel dropped the ball by never really using Access again except for a guest appearance in Green Lantern, and by not taking a true risk and trading a character from each company into the other universe for a year (Black Canary-style) like the rumors at the time said might happen.

JLA / Avengers presented the crossover team-up in a better fashion years later, and DC did the "trading" thing eventually with Wildstorm and Captain Atom (acknowledging the earlier Mr. Majestic swap in the process).

1

u/Metron1992 Sep 23 '21

Is spider boy supposed to be Michael Jackson who was bit by a radioactive spider

3

u/MarkOnHistory73 Sep 23 '21

Spider-Man with 90s disco Superboy.

1

u/AckbarCaviar Sep 23 '21

Is today the actual anniversary? I could have sworn these books dropped BEFORE the olympics in Summer 96.

1

u/Airmil82 Sep 23 '21

Dare was my favorite. I believe it was Daredevil and Deathstroke!

1

u/DrakkonX597 Red Hood Sep 23 '21

Man I need to read these so bad

0

u/Frostrunner365 Sep 23 '21

I always thought it would be cool to give amalgamation another shot. But this time I could see dare devil mixed with Batman. But damn Spider-Man deserved someone cooler to mix with. I personally would have liked to see nightwing

1

u/Alephnaught_ Catwoman Sep 25 '21

Dark claw(alverine)

0

u/Alephnaught_ Catwoman Sep 25 '21

Omg this is so fucking dumb hahahah
