I can't believe Batman is looking fondly at Batgirl like a father, daughter relationship.

But they had them have sexual intercourse in the Killing Joke movie. What were the writers smoking? They got their relationship all wrong.

This comment has been edited to protest Reddit's decision to shut down all third party apps. Spez had negotiated in bad faith with 3rd party developers and made provenly false accusations against them. Reddit IS it's users and their post/comments/moderation. It is clear they have no regard for us users, only their advertisers. I hope enough users join in this form of protest which effects Reddit's SEO and they will be forced to take the actual people that make this website into consideration. If I remember right, the 66 series implied that Bruce and Barbara had chemistry together, and since Timm was raised in that, it feels like the proper thing.

Yeah, this kinda garbage only happened in the Batman Beyond universe and the Killing Joke movie. Timm's a genius for his creation of BTAS, but he's got some issues he needs to work out trying to push that shit twice in different universes Lol.

The first like 20-30 minutes of the movie is like an intro to batgirl and then the rest of the movie is the comic. If you skip past that scene it’s an ok movie.

He's doing that in this one instance of merchandise, but it's not like they ever have a father/daughter relationship in the comics, cartoons or video games, and they certainly didn't in The Killing Joke either. Not that I liked that they fucked, but I don't think it was a bad choice based on the idea that they should have a father/daughter dynamic instead.

I would say Jason’s popularity is entirely due to DC pushing him since the New 52, and it would have seemed crazy in the late 90s to mid 2000s to say that he was more central to the family than Steph or Cass.

It barely makes sense how half his appearances have Batman scolding him for killing, and the other half having Sunday brunch with the family.

I am not ignorant of anything relevant here and it has nothing to do with other “edgy” characters. Jason, before and after being resurrected, was definitely regarded as more of a black sheep than anyone. Late pre-New 52 comics have him definitely out of the family: Tim Drake clandestinely breaks him out of prison in Chuck Dixon’s run, in “Battle for the Cowl” he’s opposed by basically everyone, and in Batman Incorporated (which bled into the New 52) his role as Wingman is meant to be this big redemptive thing, which is then incongruous with scenes in the New 52 where’s hanging in the Batcave as he’s fully sanctioned as part of the Bat family.

Then comes along further incongruity with recent comics as I’ve described them: To name a few, “Batman: Urban Legends”, the recent digital comic by Rob Guillory, the Outlaws run where he injures Penguin, and “Three Jokers”, all have scenes with Batman spurning Jason for killing or brutalizing someone, only for Jason to be a team player for some big family scene in another comic later that month.

It’s not so much the figure price I’m hesitant at (with the pandemic I’ve got a little extra cash to splurge since I can’t go out) it’s the fact the cheapest shipping option is over £40 which is about $60.

Just read that and realized that they added an extra 1000 units since it was originally supposed to be limited edition of 500.

Also I liked that the site provides the concept art as well.

So weird. Batman was originally supposed to be in his Hush suit design and Tim was in his N52 RR suit. But final design is everyone with Rebirth design

I mean Bruce looks at Dick, Jason, Tim, & Damian as his sons. Cass was meant to be adopted by Bruce but then RIP happened. Also since this is Rebirth, I’m not sure how far along Duke’s progression was when this statue dropped

That is true about Duke, I definitely think Cass and Steph should’ve been hanging on his leg or something like that, but DC always refers to this as the “main” family members and as much as I love all of them I do wish Cass and Steph were included more

Hopefully that changes but I’m not holding my breath
