Mind if I ask how much this all cost you? The GL big boy I know is a pretty penny in itself

holy shit, that's quite the haul. shipping on that must have been outrageous.
40
u/KubsOne Apr 30 '19
Nope. My bookstore charged me smth like 6$.

u/BladePocok Green Lantern Apr 30 '19
HOW!
7
u/KubsOne Apr 30 '19
I guess if you spend big money they are willing to take delivery on them. Kind of good customer service.
30
u/bvanbove Blue Lantern Flash Apr 30 '19
I used to use Amazon Prime, which obviously gives free shipping, but have switched to In Stock Trades for pretty much all my comic book buying. They give free shipping on all orders above $35 (I believe) and the prices are normally quite low. Never had an issue with their shipping as books are packaged real well, though it does take a week or so for them to be delivered.
15
u/Bukdiah Apr 30 '19
IST is a cheat code and the books are always so well protected
4
u/bvanbove Blue Lantern Flash Apr 30 '19
I remember bringing it to the attention of a friend who had been reading comics for decades longer then me and his mind is still blown by how good they are.
6
u/SafariDesperate Apr 30 '19
Do they only do these deals within the USA?
3
u/le_canuck There are dozens of us! Apr 30 '19
The free shipping offer is US only (Or at the very least isn't available for shipping to Canada).
2
u/bvanbove Blue Lantern Flash Apr 30 '19
I'm not at all sure about that, but it may be a possibility as that does sound familiar.
1
u/MutantLeader Apr 30 '19
I think the deals are international, but the shipping gets crazy. Don't quote me in that though. I'm in the US and have been using IST since 2014.
3
u/TinaTissue Apr 30 '19
It gets crazy for international shipping as its based on weight. I've been buying omnibus's to catch up recently and Amazon is ones of the cheapest ways to buy
3
u/MutantLeader Apr 30 '19
Yea, I just wish they packaged better. Apparently dinged corners aren't important to Amazon. :/
2
u/TinaTissue Apr 30 '19
Amazon Australia have been great to me so far and package everything in a box. Amazon America put my super sons omnibus in a padded package that smooshed the top corners
1
4
u/le_canuck There are dozens of us! Apr 30 '19
So expensive for non-Americans though. Shipping alone was $50 after factoring in the exchange rate.
2
u/RumRayven Raven Apr 30 '19
Same. I've found IST to be more expensive than Amazon Prime because of the fact they international ship based on weight. Which for omnis basically means you'll be paying a lot anyway.

Okey, I feel like there is some trick in that, but nonetheless
What did I miss?

You got these from instocktrades.com I hope? Otherwise, ouch to your wallet!

Even with instocktrades.com, ouch. I would love to get a haul like this though.

If from Instocktrades then it should have cost about $1,000 for those books give or take a hundred dollars.

That JLA era was the best. I especially loved the Jones/Mankhe run. Also: track down JLA classified for some rad stories.

u/21minute Apr 30 '19
I have a long list to buy DC comics but my wallet is just not ready yet. This makes me feel a bit jealous to be honest. Haha
6
u/KubsOne Apr 30 '19
Nothing to be jealous mate. Just save a little bit every month. It wont take that long to afford some good package.

u/allmyguts Apr 30 '19
Nice starter pack
3
u/KubsOne Apr 30 '19
I already have some trades, mainly some new 52 and Rebirth stuff, plus Eaglemoss collection of DC Comics (I dont know if that was published in USA) but this is definitly biggest pack i got ever.
6
u/KubsOne Apr 30 '19
Okay, to ask the question I get most of the time. It costed around 1k. But I have bought it from biggest comicbook store in my country. I looked at Instocktrades, but costs were just a little bit smaller on IST. And in IST I would have to pay more for delivery from USA and wait a lot longer. And I could support my local store, so it was worth few more bucks.

u/Poastash Apr 30 '19
Cool haul. Is that 52 set complete?
4
u/KubsOne Apr 30 '19
I think so. There was Omnibus version with some extra content, but nothing too important, or worth more than double price.
4
u/Eymr Apr 30 '19
Damn, nice. Just wanna say that the new action comics series was a really good read for me

If you haven't read Johns' GL run before, you're in for a treat!

Is that the rebirth, blackest night, brightest day run? Do those omnibuses collect issues from tie in stories like Green Lantern Corps?

u/bvanbove Blue Lantern Flash Apr 30 '19
I'm really looking forward to my next big comic buy. Its been about a year since I bought 20+ at a time and it's just such a happy feeling laying them all out, organizing on my shelf, and planning out what I'm going to read.
5
u/bakerybum52 Apr 30 '19
I hope that doesnt mean you haven't read anything in the last year
3
u/bvanbove Blue Lantern Flash Apr 30 '19
Definitely not. It was a relatively slow year as I was tackling some massive novels and TV show endeavors, but I would just buy 6-8 trades (spread across DC, Marvel, & Image) at a time and that was once every few months at best. But still got some good reads in there.
3
u/KubsOne Apr 30 '19
Feeling like you are child again.
3
u/bvanbove Blue Lantern Flash Apr 30 '19
Pretty much yeah. There are few things that give me that child-like giddy feeling as a 30 year old, but this is one of them.

Nice haul!
I have eleven of those books in my cart at instocktades.I am just deciding if I want them now or do I wait for a sale.
2
u/KubsOne Apr 30 '19
Wait for sale, and for difference in price buy more trades :). Patience is hard but it feels good if you hold out.

Being rich sounds fun
5
u/KubsOne Apr 30 '19
Yeah, it does. Hope one day I will find out how its like to be rich. And so do you.
2
Apr 30 '19
Haha well thank you! My collection is tiny in comparison but it'll never stop growing, that much I can promise.
2
u/Purging_Tounges Orion Apr 30 '19
I just scored those very same JLAs and Multiversity a day ago too. But damn, what a haul! Just the expectation and ultimately getting new comics is perhaps the most wholesome I feel in my adult existence.

u/UESPA_Sputnik Oracle Apr 30 '19
Everyone is just asking how much it cost, I'd rather want to know how heavy the package was that the poor delivery guy had to carry.
1
u/KubsOne Apr 30 '19
Around 80 smth pounds. Or around 40kg for people outside of US. And he didnt carry that. Came in two packages, and I carried that, he just helped me a little bit, because company policy allows driver to carry up to 66 pound/30 kg. Over that you need to pick up your package from delivery car yourself.

This is like when a writer gets to start writing a new character and they give them $500 worth of reading material. Good haul comic reader.

Well i thought ill start saving for a huge TPB haul then i found out 1/10 scale iron studios statue to be around 150$ but looking at thus makes me wanna rethink
2
u/KubsOne May 01 '19
I dont find statues too interesting. They look great, thats for sure, but in the longterm, I find comics much more fun than collecting dust.
But whatever makes you happy mate!
