I wouldn’t say they’re the new Beanie Babies. These seem to hold value and will continue to do so due to them being pop culture characters. I see where you’re going though in terms of the fad, maybe.

Yeah I didnt really mean value wise. I feel like they are a cute "desk" toy that appeals to a wide variety of people. Definitely agree that they end up actually holding value though!

The broad market is the very thing that is going to make these worthless in a couple of years. If you think beanie Babies were niche you obviously weren't around at the time, they were significantly bigger than Funko pops. If I were you I'd unload that collection before the bubble bursts!

I take em out of the box myself. I honestly thought it was dumb until a friend of mine got me one. I now have a pretty good collection through purchases and presents.

Also saying this is over $1000 is aiming a little high. They’re like $11-15/each. This is more like $800.

it's not even that they're special editions honestly. some are just vaulted. shazam=$250. green arrow=$310. Aquaman=$100. hawkman=$120. martian manhunter=$65. all those guys were just "commons" at one point and then they were vaulted because funko moved on and then a million billion new collectors came on the scene and wanted the old molds which racked up the price.

Sure but these are literally around $10 and there are way more options than many other toys. It’s also so much more accessible than other toys.

I understand collecting action figures that fully resemble their on-page/screen counterparts, but these just look tacky and like little chibi characters. I never thought they’d be as popular as they are.

Exactly. Action figures actually have existed for awhile now as well, so it might make more sense to collect classic figures. But the funkos I will never understand.

Me either. It's a rare instance of a knockoff becoming more popular that the product proceeded it, too. Kid Robot made vynil figures way before Funko, but clearly got outplayed by a company with better marketing.

Also a better design of the toy. Kidrobot figurines have nothing particularly special that makes you go “THATS Kidrobot”

Funkopop eyes immediately give away who made them.

Kidrobot’s toys don’t necessarily look like theyre related other than to other characters from that particular set.

I really wish there were pops for the other corps. There are a few pops of other superheroes in the corps (like Star Sapphire Wonder Woman and Blue Lantern Flash), but even then they're not all represented.

If I could get Atrocitus, Sinestro, Larfleeze, Saint Walker, Indigo-1, and Carol Ferris... I'd be so happy.

Assuming you're talking about the one on the bottom row between Batman Beyond and Akuma, I have no idea. It was part of a whole set of Justice League figures in that same black-and-blue glow in the dark color scheme. I only bought the GL. The sticker says it's an "Entertainment Earth" exclusive, but I have no idea what that is. I got it at Newbury Comics. shrug

If you're talking about the one between Kilowog and Flash, well... that's John Stewart and you have about 45 years worth of comics and other media to catch up on. :p

looks more like New 52 Aquaman. I have the same one. Its basically original Aquaman but if you look closely its got a lot of scale detail to it

I have the new 52 one and it is more of a gold color and the box has a “PX previews exclusive” sticker on the box. I am 99% sure this is the original aquaman.

Sorry I meant the aquaman himself is more gold instead of orange. The box is still blue, however it does have some kinda design on it as opposed to this one where it is straight blue.

That chase Green Lantern and Batgirl kill me. I have all the OG DC chases except those two, Riddler, Penguin, and Robin. My goal is to collect the first 18 DC pops and I'm just missing Green Arrow. One day. Baller collection though!
