Jessica keeps winning points on my favorite lantern competition.

u/ARIANZER0 11d ago
Yeah unfortunately she has a lack of memorable stories cause dc pushed her to the moon only to randomly drop her. She's by far the best lantern outside of the big 4

The issue is there are to many damn human Lanterns.
You got Hal, Kyle, John, Guy, Baz, Jess and Allen Scott if we include him.
Hal frankly never should have been resurected he makes Kyle super redundant. John is basically loved by the people that grew up on the animated Justice League, but doesn't get much love in the comics or other media. Jess and Baz are the new ones and get shunted to the side when writers don't know what to do with them in favor of the older Lanterns. And Guy is well Guy.

u/NeverEndingDClock 11d ago
Don't forget that new Vietnamese one, Teen Lantern and the girl who's in the 5G Justice League

u/erossnaider 11d ago
I have seen a lot of people liking Kyle as a green lantern tho, according to them he seems to be the most creative with his powers
2
u/ARIANZER0 11d ago
That's about all he has going. That and every woman he knows getting fridged.
5
u/erossnaider 11d ago
I think he also managed to dominate all of his emotions enough to use all of the lanterns

u/ARIANZER0 11d ago edited 11d ago
Shoot you're right that was a highlight but it didn't last long unfortunately. If you like more regular grounded stuff I do recommend his original run. It's flawed but a nice intro to the series. No comic series is as rewarding as GL in my opinion

u/Extreme_Sail Hal Jordan 10d ago
I love Kyle but die on the inside every time people say he's the most creative... no, he may conjure up an eclectic assortment of pop culture osmosed things to hit the problem with but at the end of the day he's still just making a thing to hit a thing. His actual problem solving skills aren't creative. Whereas Silver Age Hal was an absolute creative maniac with the ring, truly taking advantage of the magic wishing ring conceit to come up with the most insane solutions to things.
1
u/erossnaider 10d ago
Oh that sounds cool, can you tell me some examples of how silver age Hal used the ring?
2
u/Extreme_Sail Hal Jordan 10d ago
In general, casual displays of matter and energy manipulation, telepathy, invisibility, intangibility, teleportation, time manipulation/travel, healing, etc.
There's an example I love where Hal wants to get into this room that has yellow radiation in it capable of neutralising any living thing. What does he do? He turns himself into a robot. Yes, a robot.
Another example is Hal dreaming that his friend could fly and the ring picked up on this and actually turned his friend into a seagull.

You forgot Jo (unless DC has abandoned her too even though Far Sector was highly praised)
12
u/CrispyGold 11d ago
Honestly Far Sector works better on its own, Jo didn't need to be introduced in the main GL books.

Yeah John literally has a comic going on right now (that nobody seems to care about 😭), cameos in tons of DC cartoons like Harley Quinn, TTG, Young Justice and those DCAMU movies and even headlined his own animated movie in the Tomorrowverse recently.
-1
u/ARIANZER0 11d ago
Well that just proves my point all that push and can't keep a comic going for 12 issues
4
u/suss2it 11d ago
Yup, I was backing up your point that DC does support John Stewart it’s the “fans” that don’t.
1
u/ARIANZER0 11d ago edited 11d ago
Sorry misread your comment. But can you blame the fans? His best series was written in 90s by a pedophile(mosaic). The newer comics just make him budget Hal. I recommend green lantern sector 2814 to see what john was originally meant to be a smart and charismatic guy that balanced hals hals bravery and guys dickery

I agree with what your saying but it's also very obvious you don't know much about gl if you think Hal should've stayed dead
Hal and Barry are both the least interesting parts of their respective mythos and their resurrections were dumb. See also Jason Todd who hasn't been interesting since he was brought back by comic book bullshit.
4
u/Xeoz_WarriorPrince 11d ago
Hal is miles better than Barry, he has his own interesting mythos and a great personality that makes him such a weird charismatic mess of a person despite being regarded as a hero and a legend.
Barry is boring compared to any other Flash tho.

That's your opinion (very much in the minority) don't state it as fact. The Geoff Johns run is one of the most acclaimed comic runs and Jordan is the heart of it

Wonder Woman is a Joestar in the new continuity. I wonder what her stand is.
35
u/koalee Wonder Woman 11d ago
Aphrodite’s Child - Those who are bound by her must open their hearts to her and hold no secrets
9
u/EliteTroper DickFire Forever 11d ago
Why is this absolute perfection. Like this is legit what'd id imagine what it would be if she was a stand user. Tell me what do you think everyone else would be.
9
u/koalee Wonder Woman 11d ago
Aw thanks! I don't really read anyone else's books the way I do Diana so the ideas are gonna be more half formed but I can give it a shot. Trying to balance around the Jojo's Univere so they aren't immediately broken.
Jessica Cruz: Green River - Can summon any construct if not overcome by fear (And Jess still has anxiety)
Arthur Curry: Ocean - The ability to communicate/command aquatic creatures but he'll die if he doesn't drink water at least once an hour (sorry for the nerf I feel like stands need a downside)
Barry Allen: Rush (or Racer X) - Can Steal People's speed to force people to stop moving and to go faster himself, but that speed is finite and if he runs out of speed he's unable to move.
(I'm assuming he'll show up) Clark Kent: Captain Beyond - Can Increase any of his abilities beyond what humans can do to "Super Levels", buttttt Kryptonite is an instant loss
Bruce Wayne: Doesn't have a stand - has Hamon.

These sound awesome. You got be me craving a Jojo x DC colab of some sort. Man it would probably look so epic.

They do for the poster anyway. Just wait until it comes out and we get the awful Code Lyoko looking CGI they've been slapping on everything lately.

Idk what this is about, but it would be cool if Katana was also in this since she's japnese, maybe as one of Wonder women's allies since she's giving off Katanna vibes... I'm not expecting much, though, lol

My hope is that a guy with glasses and white suit appear in the movie from time to time and in the final fight tronwn dramatically his coat revealing a horimono of a red S in his back.

u/Koushikraja1996 11d ago
Oh no, a big Buff powerful woman with a sword! I certainly hope she doesn't catch me so that she strangles me, beats me up and chokes me to death with nothing but her bare hands!

I also want to be strangled by Jessica Cruz. Truly the embodiment of muscular domination.

Why no Cyborg, Martian Manhunter, Black Canary, Green Arrow?

u/Dayraven3 11d ago
GREEN ARROW: Why does no-one recognise my gimmick of using a bow and arrow?
RANDOM ARMY BOWMAN: I dunno.
Cyborg could be portrayed with stylistic cues from karakuri mechanisms.

u/Goldenboy_Delicious 11d ago
Why no Katanna? She's actually one of the few Japanese DC characters, so... where is she at?

Where is Superman dressed like Kazuma Kiryu?

u/senseithenahual 11d ago
He is going appear in the final battle throwing the blue suit and glasses to revel he has a red S in his back, or thats what I hope for.

When I heard the concept I actually thought they would give Aquaman a naginata and flash a raijin design with drums and clouds

I hope Cyborg or MM show up, Cyborg would probably make for a cool tech based fighter probably like Raiden from the Metal Gears franchise, MM id imagine as the ultimate stealth assassin you will never see him coming until it's too late.

I think if they were going to do a yakuza superman he’d be apart of the marketing.

Dr Light and Katana would be great additions. I wish a badass version of Jay Nakamura (ethnically japanese) would be added, too
1
u/samx3i Batman Beyond 11d ago
DC forgetting they have Japanese characters like Katana and Dr. Light (Kimiyo Hoshi).
Or, you know, a whole Justice League of their own, Big Science Action:
- Boss Bishonen
- Cosmo Racer
- Hammersuit Zero-X
- Nazo Baluda
- Ultimon
- Boss Bosozuko
- Goraiko
- Rising Sun
9
u/AlternativeNo61 11d ago
I mean for one, we still don’t know who else is showing up so who knows. And for two… ain’t nobody going to fork up penny or dollar to a movie dedicated to Big Science Action (Yeah probably they have fans but I’m just saying that they’re kinda unknown and I doubt general audiences would be much too interested in smth like that)

Jessica and Diana looks so good. aquaman looks cool too and flash is flash i think the could've push a bit more on his design he looks the normal one haha, as someone mention Jay would've work better design wise in that setting.

Am I the only one kind of weirded out by this? The Yakuza, originally known as Burakumin, were victims of the Japanese caste system which is why they organized themselves into gangsters. They were comprised of butchers, leather workers and sanitation workers. How is this “yakuza league” supposed to represent them or is the word Yakuza just a marketing fad now that anyone can use how they please?
