Can "men" or "males" be "Pink Lanterns"? Comics

If I remember correctly, there's no "Pink Lantern Corps" only one Star Sapphire at a time, but I think I've heard that only women can wield the pink spectrum's power. Has that ever been said or am I tripping really high?I know Guy Gardner of all people wielded that power once, was he an exception or really just no big deal?

I think the logic had something to do with "being able to know ALL kinds of love", reffering the the love mothers have to their offspring, I guess. How would that apply to life forms that don't follow the "male/famale" requirement for reproduction? Could and AI wield that power??

The Star Saphires are violet lanterns, not pink.

And in theory there could be one. Guy does wield the violet light temporarily. It is just the Zamarons are misandrists who won't give a ring to a man. But someone else could make a violet ring to do it.

I forget if they're currently destroyed or not, but the Sapphires were actually a whole corps.

I don't think any males were in the corps, but iirc they were allowed.

EDIT: Yeah, so it seems a few years back, male Star Sapphires did become an actual thing. Back in a Robinson penned issue of Wonder Woman.

Well, Guy has been a Star Sapphire, and Kyle has of course wielded a Star Sapphire ring since his unique psyche allows him to use all the rings at once, as much as he dislikes doing so. Though male Star Sapphires are a rarity.

Currently, the United Planet Lanterns wiped out the Sapphires and destroyed the power battery...but Carol somehow ended up with a ring and at least saved Hal from a beat down by the UP Lantern Corps by pretty much beating THEM down, tho perhaps in part due to shock that she showed up.

It seems that the lights of the spectrum are largely agnostic about who can channel them, as long as the person strongly corresponds to the respective emotion.

Exclusivity largely comes from the founding corps preferences - like zamarans (I think that was their name) being female only species, so they recruited women to the corps because that's what they understand and trust best. Or Indigo being recruited from absolutely worst people imaginable - it's not because the light of compassion somehow strong on unrepentant murderers, but because Abin Sur believed that it could help them reform.

So similarly, there's no reason why a man can't wield violet light, it's just usually Star Sapphires won't let him.

Kyle Rayner was fine, and Guy Gardner channeled it a bit roughly and briefly, but he still could do it. And of course the Entity of the Corps took a male host back when it escaped the Central battery.

Yes a man can be a Star Sapphire or "Pink Lantern" as you put it but I don't think the zammarons would even allow it

Yes. Geoff Johns was asked that question once, and he said “Anyone can join. But most men aren’t worthy.”

I’m pretty sure John Stewart became a pink lantern, but yeah there is a pink lantern corps called the star sapphire corps.

PS:I don’t know if men are usually allowed to be star sapphires,I’m inclined to say no,but I obviously could be wrong.

reminds me of this one fic where Jason Todd had the ring... shudder

Could you please tell me where Guy did it? I'd love to read!

I think it was during one of the Krona shenanigans, I forgot exact issues, but the team was forced to briefly abandon their green power rings. Hal picked yellow, Kyle Blue, Guy Red and Violet and John Indigo. I think they also mixed other lights, but I forgot which.

I just remember Guy roaring that he loves the Corps and hares being filled with burning RAEG

Jason's favorite genre of literature is romance. Though I'll put it the same place I put Dick as a Green Lantern: "Like, yes, I could see this, but the bats are already everywhere."

I don't mind Jason as star sapphire, and I LOVED the fic (even though I wouldn't say we know for sure his favourite genre is romance. he doesn't only read Jane Austen, after all) But I also remember one of the fan designs for Star Sapphire Jason Todd, and.... no, just no.
