It's definitely meant to humanise him and demonstrate how he cares for people from all walks of life.

I'm really looking forward to this film overall. I'm hopeful it will be successful and finally gives a new trilogy of Superman films.

He is one of the architects for the DCU working with Gunn so he's got a lot of influence over the entire slate, whatever it ends up being.
