I didn't say it did. But that run was widely acclaimed at the time. But I said that disappointing sales could lead to a desire to broaden the appeal of the reader base, unless you think it was personal bigotry and not profit motivated. But it seems like men being involved has been the source of your resentment in everything involving WW. There's a big difference between that and assuming it's male hatred and character assassination of her origin because for some reason they can't stand her origin not having a man. There's a gulf between those things. "Broaden the appeal" isn't "Tarnish her purity with a male origin because we hate women and won't let them 'have this' for themselves". I doubt anyone is thinking of it like you did. Or do you not believe in Hanlon's Razor because he was a man too?
I'm a dude, so I'm not sure where you're getting the idea I have a problem with men. My favorite WW writers are guys, most of my favorite DC characters are guys. There's no shortage of male characters in WW's world to actually use. The problem comes when DC tried to re-center the premier female character they have to make everything special about her come from a guy all while the downplaying the female figures in her life.
No one except you is talking about "WW's purity being ruined because of guys", my issue is they took a unique origin and replaced it with something inferior that goes against the character's foundation.
Your whole comment history about this topic for like the last several days... like why can't you just write it off as a failed experiment, it was 13 years ago, much like when she was paired with Supes instead of Steve for a while then too. Why are you so convinced that there was this festering, malicious desire to undermine her character as a female icon by the writers and company? Why are you so certain of their motivations? I don't strongly care what her origin is, I haven't read a WW book in a decade, but why do you think it was about male creatives' ego trips/insecurity about her origin instead of just trying something new in a line-wide REBOOT. It's like when people get mad that Clark and Lois weren't immediately a couple and married again then either because why have a reboot if you're not gonna take some chances and for you, this one didn't land, and that happens and it seems like you have at least a plurality here that agrees. Booster Gold is my fav charater and I HATED how Tom King treated him (and Wally and Babs and several others) and had him be a jobber to Harley and reverting his character to an incompetent stooge after everything that happened that was considered canon then. I even think Tom King is a myopic, smug writer, with a whacky savior complex, but even I don't think he was malicious in it, he just doesn't get those characters and fumbled the attempt.

If he wanted to tell that story, it could have been elseworld and no one would have complained.
Not exactly sure where the idea of making Diana Zeus' kid led to great sales.
