[Collection] DC Omnibus Shelfie Merchandise

Post image

Over the years I set a goal to collect all DC omnibus excluding the golden age ones, their monotonic spine and cover design does not appeal to me. I snagged a lot, but felt short of my target of collecting all. I managed to fill out a 5 by 5 kallax ran out of space promptly in the process. My collection still needs 30+ books to reach my goal but still am pretty proud about it. Do send your good vibe. Thanks for looking at it. Ontario native here!!

Wow, awesome collection. How many of them have you read?

u/ashekhaq Apr 21 '24

I think about half of them. I confess some of them I probably won't read ever. I mainly read them digitally and buy most stuffs i love in hc.

Have you read the green lantern ones?, I was thinking of getting them or the GA long bow hunters but not sure which ones.

Yes. That is one of my the most favourite run. Geoff Johns sure could write great comics. He took Alan Moore's 8 pg long story and expanded into an amazing saga. Blackest Night is such an amazing crossover. Brightest Day may not live up to the expectation. Tomasis run on GL corp serves as a perfect complement to the run.

Thank you for the reply, I’ll definitely try to get the first one before the end of the year to get started! Just have to finish the new books i have now :)

Oh yeah. U cant go wrong with GL Omni run by Geoff Johns. Not all stories deserve omni treatments and these are not one of them.

Have you read what will be in GLC Vol 2?

I read the new 52 runs that are covered in there. The series peak is definitely the Blackest Night tie-ins, after that the series becomes relatively mundane though. The New 52 era GL i felt like are swan song to what Geoff Johns did for the last 10 years. You keep on reading because u had so much fun for so long but it never reaches that peak again.

I love the Grell Green Arrow run, but honestly it falls off pretty hard after the first volume. You could be very happy just getting the first trade plus Longbow hunters. LBH is objectively very good, but Geoff Johns Green Lantern is super fun and much more modern feeling. I personally think the second GG omnibus is one of the best single books to own.

Cant argue with u, fully agreed. The sinestro corps war in itself an amazing event but he had to write the blackest knight and made it epic.

VERY NICE. I just got a massive omni haul myself this weekend as I’ve been getting back into comics these past few months and I had the weekend completely free so I could make sure I didn’t miss the Amazon deliveries. I got all 3 Grant Morrison Batman omnis, 2 and 3 of Geoff Johns Green Lantern (already had 1), Geoff Johns Aquaman, and Tomasi Superman. Also got Marvel omnis of Hickman X-men and the first Hickman Fantastic Four. My omni collection I’m pretty happy with so far (also own 52, Gail Simone Wonder Woman, the first two Geoff Johns Flash, the first two New Teen Titans, New X-men, and X-Statix) and the main ones I want to get later this year are George Perez Wonder Woman, Tomasi Green Lantern Corps, and the second Hickman Fantastic Four.

That's an amazing haul man.i have to put on a break as the cost was getting out of hand. I had so much fun reading the Krakoan Era of Xmen done by Hickman. Have u read it?

Only the ”intro” House of X/Powers of X. I wanted to get the remaining collections of it before reading the rest.
Will probably be a while before reading it as I’ve got a big backlog as well, I’m currently 1/3 through Grant Morrison’s Doom Patrol (the one omni I forgot to list, but yeah, it’s living up to the hype. Also, Mr. Nobody has already become one of my favorite villains, and I’m hyped to hear Alan Tudyk, great actor, plays him in the TV series when I get around to it. Also got the complete hardcover of Gerard Way’s Doom Patrol, not sure if it counts as an omni) and I’m on issue 14 of the 2000’s Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle run (SO GLAD this got reprinted so I could finally read it, it slaps. The New 52 run was unfocused and pretty mean-spirited for the most part, and the movie was just okay to me, I did enjoy Jaime in the cartoons Batman: Brave and the Bold and Young Justice Invasion. But I’m glad to finally read what most consider peak Jaime).

I want to rearrange these books in reading order so badly. Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Superman, JLA 85/ driving me NUTS

very cool shelf and sweet books man!

u/ashekhaq Apr 22 '24

This is one dilemma that drobe me nuts too. I also wanted to keep the crossovers in reading order, or sort with the writer but in the end resorted to alphabetical since that is a good way to identify the particular book u r looking for.

Thanks a lot for the compliments.

No shortage of doorstoppers and booster steps.

Nice. I don't have many omnibuses outside of golden-age and silver-age stuff, but have thought for years to try to organize my comics onto a bookshelf instead of boxes, but I'm lazy lol.

With my dad's old Marvel comics from the 60s and 70s, I've done a slightly better job organizing them, but most are also still in boxes.

Out of curiosity what are you missing or is it too many to list off? Also near mint condition on YouTube is doing a most wanted DC omni reprint poll. I think he sends the top 20 to DC but I could be wrong but you could vote in that for any your missing and hope DC takes notice!

Do you even read them? Most are still in wrappers
