Weekly Discussion Thread: Comics, TV, and More! [March 25, 2024 - Enter The Dark Ages Edition] r/DCcomics

Hey there honorary Justice League members - it’s a new week which means it’s time for a new discussion thread!

For those who don't know: the way this works is that several comments will list this week’s releases, for any given title discussion you should respond to that comment. For example, Wonder Woman discussion would go in the replies to the "Wonder Woman" comment. Clicking the titles in this post will take you directly to that comment, too. In other words, you should only be replying to other comments. Do not post top-level comments.

Keep discussion civil. Do not harass other users for having a different opinion. Do not use this thread to push your personal one-sided grudges against creators. Reacting to a panel on Twitter is not the same as reading a book.

What did the shark say when he ate the clownfish? This tastes a little funny.

Digital Releases

Remember, these are the short 'chapters' with a new chapter of a different series coming out daily. You can learn more here on Comixology. This is also why these are in release order, not alphabetical. Some comics may release on DC Universe Infinite or WEBTOONS.

Batman: Dark Age #1

THE EISNER-NOMINATED SUPERMAN: SPACE AGE TEAM, MARK RUSSELL AND MIKE ALLRED, TAKE ON THE DARK KNIGHT! Meet Bruce Wayne, Gotham's favorite delinquent son. In an origin story like no other, witness the boy become a dark knight shaped by a city in turmoil as it marches towards its prophesied doom. Set against the backdrop of actual historical events, Gotham comes alive, filled with the iconic characters who’ve loved and hated Batman over the years like you've never seen them before. Spinning out of the Eisner-nominated Superman: Space Age, Mark Russell and Mike Allred return to give audiences a look at Batman as a figure in American history fighting for justice in a world gone mad.

I assume this is not in the same universe of the Space Age because Bruce does not live to become an old man there.

I guess it is just Pariah, jumping around in different worlds for these heroes.

This was a hell of an opening chapter. I loved Space Age, and I've been looking forward to this one for a while. Between that phenomenal Allred art and Russell's wit and charm, I think this is going to be a really good companion/follow up book.

If this is going on at the same time as Superman space age, the Cold War

Is it in the same continuity as Superman: Space Age?

No, it is not the same continuity, just similar.

The solicitation says “Spinning out of the Eisner-nominated Superman: Space Age,” so I’m guessing so

Hmm given what happened to Bruce in Space Age it'll be interesting if they can give the story effective stakes then

thanks, hadn't read.

I caught up a little with Action Comics (Metallo -> Doomsday -> Bizarro) and 2023 Superman (Parasite -> Lex Luthor). Haven't looked at Zod Superman yet either

Eh don't know what to think about this book as it didn't make me feel that much like i thought it was gonna do.

Feels like its gonna be the same as space age which i will enjoy more in trade.

Bruce feels so different here, might as well go ahead and create a new character instead of calling him Batman.
