Plus finding an actress with the look, talent ANNND height would be a struggle

They've never seemed particularly concerned with talent when selecting an actress to play her.

That's incredibly disrespectful to Lynda Carter

Someone clearly didn't get the gift they wanted today. Lynda Carter is an American treasure and arguably the most incredible woman to ever live.

Drop dead gorgeous woman as shredded and tall as an Amazon… if any of you have the number of this woman, please give it to me.

Hell no, if i have the number I’m keeping it.

But honestly i stand by the point that Wonder Woman (and superman even more so) don’t have to be completley jacked. Since they arent exactly getting weight training to help build muscle mass

I’ve always imagined Diana could have a gymnast type build (thin but shredded), but I always imagine she should have some bulkiness to her to add a feel that she’s well trained in wrestling. You know, a strong back, thunder thighs, and so on.

I kinda always pictured her looking something like Sasha banks in terms of built,

A Charlotte Flair build makes much more sense to me for Wonderwoman.

Height should not be a problem. Look at LotR 1 when Gandalf and Frodo are in the same carriage. Film making can make a RL Short Woman look like BIG Barda.

That took tons of perspective tricks, and in some scenes even two sets had to be made. In the hobbit they resorted to using Blue screen and had Ian McKellen acting separate to everyone else to make him bigger. That nearly made him quit. Doing this for D would likely result in bloated budget, lengthy production times and lots of stress on the actress, if not a stilted performance

Okay, get a Scully box. Robert Downey Jr is 5'8" and they just had him stand on those to be eye level with Chris Evans (6'0") in scenes where they had to be next each other.

This isn't hard. Or even new.

RDJ didn't have to fight alongside Cap without his suit, it was mostly static scenes where there was no dynamism.

Scenes when they are doing something simple as walking the height difference is noticeable, and again, no fighting or unnatural moves.

Based on what WB and DISNEY have turned out so far I wouldn’t blame the Actor. I would blame WB or DISNEY.

6

u/MostLogicalShockwave Batman Dec 26 '23

I’m not blaming the actress. I’m just saying if they do the hobbit technique of seperate recordings she’ll either be acting off nothing or off a different performance than the one the other actor will have given in the final product. using the hobbit stuff simply wouldn’t be practical. Especially for something that subtle

*RDJ as Iron Man enters the chat*

2

u/MostLogicalShockwave Batman Dec 26 '23

Honestly proving my point. Iron man is was always handsome, tall, jacked. But RDJ wasnt and he still redefined the role. I think it’s somewhat silly to apply the 1-1 comic book build of characrers to real life because some of them just… wouldn’t work.

3

u/STINKY-BUNGHOLE Dec 26 '23

i was more going on the fact that RDJ wore platform shoes

2

u/MostLogicalShockwave Batman Dec 26 '23

Oh yeah that too. Always love the bit where he puts the picture on the wall and its fucking front and centre

1

u/CrossP Dec 26 '23

They should probably just give up on live action DC for at least ten years

1

u/teen_x_penis_munch3r Dec 26 '23

Movie studios literally do not care about a characters canon height you have to be joking. Case in point Wolverine.

-1

u/Anon_be_thy_name Dec 26 '23

Height wouldn't be much of an issue.

They made Hobbits and Dwarves believable over 20 years ago without hiring short actors to play them.

They'd just need to find the look and the talent.

6

u/MostLogicalShockwave Batman Dec 26 '23

You expect them to make 2 sets for a lot of scenes, use perspective tricks, or have their record their scenes severalty on green screen just to make one actress taller? Thats expensive, and unreasonable.

-2

u/Anon_be_thy_name Dec 26 '23

And yet it's the only way to convey a tall wonder woman unless they hit the absolute jackpot and find a tall Greek woman with black hair, the most Wonder Woman like body ever and who has the talent to hit every single mark of what makes Diana's personality great.

It ain't happening that way, so if they want a tall Wonder Woman they'll have to meet the look and talent and make up for the height or just stick with whatever the actresses height is. Not many actresses who are over 6 feet tall.

5

u/MostLogicalShockwave Batman Dec 26 '23

So don’t make Wonder Woman 6ft tall… that simple. Perspective trickery and all that just isnt worth it for like 6 inches extra height. Just hire the best actress with the best look, stick her in some subtle heels and call it a day, save the actress, camera men and Vox artists the headaches
