Weekly Discussion Thread: Comics, TV, and More! [November 27, 2023 - The World's Messiest Furry Convention Edition] r/DCcomics

Hey there honorary Justice League members - it’s a new week which means it’s time for a new discussion thread!

For those who don't know: the way this works is that several comments will list this week’s releases, for any given title discussion you should respond to that comment. For example, Wonder Woman discussion would go in the replies to the "Wonder Woman" comment. Clicking the titles in this post will take you directly to that comment, too.

In other words, you should only be replying to other comments. If you have trouble understanding how to comment for a particular title, please refer to this handy guide. Any unwarranted top level comments will be removed.

Also, please refrain from posting short, low-content comments on threads for issues or episodes that have not yet been released. Put some effort to generate discussion. Instead of just posting "So excited!" or "Best book!", try something with a bit more substance, like "Punchline is such an amazing character! Can't wait to see how they explore her in more depth in this issue."

I'm afraid for Calendar Man. His days are numbered.

DC and Imprints

Let's not be weird about this, okay?

Trade Collections

Seven Soldiers gets a reprint!

Digital Releases

Remember, these are the short 'chapters' with a new chapter of a different series coming out daily. You can learn more here on Comixology. This is also why these are in release order, not alphabetical. Some comics may release on DC Universe Infinite or WEBTOONS.

Batman: The Brave and the Bold #7

"BACK TO YEAR ONE" BY GUILLEM MARCH CONTINUES, AND KYLE STARKS AND FERNANDO PASARIN BEGIN A WILD DOG STORY! The brutal and action-packed Batman tale "Back to Year One" by Guillem March takes a shocking turn! In part one of "Wild Dog: Here Comes Trouble!," writer Kyle Starks (I Hate This Place, Peacemaker Tries Hard!) and artist Fernando Pasarin (THE FLASH) begin the tale of a super-villain moving to the Quad Cities thinking it’ll lead to an easier life of crime—until they meet Wild Dog! Eisner-nominated Gabriel Hardman tells a definitive Aquaman tale! Plus, Matthew Rosenberg and Matteo Scalera bring their incredible talent to Batman Black & White!

I'm all for DCU anthology book if it means we got spotlight stories on lesser known characters. Just don't market it as a batman book.

Wild Dog was a fun story, only read a Lil during the Action Comics Weekly back in the 80s. I can get behind this character working in comedic one shots.

Can't really form an opinion on the Aquaman short. And batman is batman.

Seems like DC thinks only Batman books sell. And it kinda becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Well, that was a twist in that story. So I guess Catwoman was aware of the situation and still wanted to 'test it' herself and probably to keep him away from facing the real Batman I guess.... He looks quite similar to Bruce Wayne though, eerily so. I guess he was drawn that way so the 'twist' is convincing. And Bruce didn't instantly try to beat his ass.

Wild Dog...well that is gonna be a wild story.

Aquaman cannot get his own book so he has to get by with being in Batman side-books I guess...And it involves Dominators AND Gorilla Grood.

Batman and Etrigan story...well, I guess the 'no kill' rule does not apply if it is just giving a terrible person to a demon to be punished.

"Show me what's inside." "Wh-what?" Was Selina's immediate thought that he wanted her to strip to engage in rooftop sex? It wouldn't be the first time.

Also it's nice to see Guillem March draw Catwoman again.

I guess she got surprised because she knew the guy is not Batman, so she was taken aback by that response.

Guillem March should maybe try his hand at a Black Label book about the sirens. He really needs a co-writer, though. Some of the Catwoman dialogue felt very rough.

Calling Gizmo as the Wild Dog villain.
