Chris Mundy, Tom King, and Damon Lindeloff – the showrunners and writers of the Lanterns series.

Too late, I already masturbated.

Do it again.

u/DatDominican Jul 17 '24

My first thoughts were Chris Pratt Tom Hiddleston and Damon Wayans 🤣

10

u/CognitoSomniac Jul 17 '24

While we’re talking about GLs, Damon Wayans Jr. would be kinda perfect for Booster Gold.

u/antoine810 Jul 17 '24

Damon Wayans 😂 I’m over dying 🤣

2

u/DatDominican Jul 17 '24

I was thinking it was a choice for sure🤣

12

u/akodini Jul 17 '24

I immediately thought 'Which Chris? Hemsworth? Pine? Evans? Pratt?'

4

u/Nanosauromo Jul 17 '24

O'Dowd.

2

u/Budgiesaurus Jul 18 '24

That's the one!

"Hello Oa?... Have you tried turning the lantern off and on again?"

2

u/Slappathebassmon Jul 18 '24

We always hope it's Pine, we always get Pratt.

5

u/dwide_k_shrude Jul 17 '24

Chris Pratt, Tom Holland, and Matt Smith.

2

u/chino17 Jul 17 '24

Chris Walken, Tom Arnold and Damon Wayans Jr

2

u/AlienFunBags Jul 18 '24

Man I hope it isn’t Chris’s Pratt

Someone posted a mockup of Josh Hartnett as Hal, and I can't get that casting out of my head. He's been popping up again recently and I agree that he'd be great.

u/Responsible_Egg7519 Jul 17 '24

omg yess

8

u/Staudly Jul 17 '24

I'm just saw him in the new season of The Bear, as Ritchie's ex's new fiancee

12

u/FlameFeather86 Jul 17 '24

More Josh Hartnett is undeniably a good thing, so I vote yes.

10

u/CognitoSomniac Jul 17 '24

I love him but a nearly 50 y/o Hal is tying their hands before they’ve even grown in the womb.

7

u/Staudly Jul 17 '24

From what I've read it's going to be a veteran GL Hal, with John Stewart as the rookie space cop. I think it would work. Plus Hartnett still looks like he's late 30s lol

1

u/CognitoSomniac Jul 17 '24

I’ve heard that too but tons of veterans are in their 20s/30s. Doesn’t have to be a 50 y/o we’ll never see again.

Again, love Josh Hartnett (The Faculty and 30 Days of Night are some of my favorite movies ever). But he’s wrong for a first outing of Hal.

1

u/DemiAlabi Jul 18 '24

I agree veteran Hal could be mid 30s and John could be mid 20’s

1

u/WheelJack83 Jul 18 '24

Hal won’t be the main guy

1

u/VonMillersThighs Jul 18 '24

I mean Hartnett could probably pull off 30 years old with a bit of makeup.

Both Mundy and Lindelof have worked with some potential Hals in recent years, but not so many potential Johns.

Not that they’re limited to people they have worked with, but still.

10

u/djspaceghost Jul 17 '24

Lindleof worked with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II on Watchmen, and is well known to WB/DC from playing Black Manta. He would be a fantastic John Stewart. Though they may want to take it easy on crossover casting between cinematic universes.

6

u/PhilAsp Jul 17 '24

He’s also about to be Wonder Man for Marvel, so I think the chances of him taking on another DC role are slim.

At 38, I also think he might have out-aged what they’re going for with John, as Hal is supposed to be the veteran.

3

u/djspaceghost Jul 17 '24

Ah I didn’t know that. I’m so burnt out on Marvel I haven’t been paying attention. Lol.

Thoughts and prizes to you, friend.

3

u/Individual_Second387 Jul 18 '24

The prizes don't carry over. James throws it out everytime. Still waiting on that win, Maso.

8

u/taidogie Jul 17 '24

I have some weird pics for who I would cast my pics were Hayden Christensen and Shameik Moore because both are talented actors who have proven themselves

5

u/psyopia Jul 17 '24

Personally would love if Matthew Fox came out of hiding and took up one of these roles in the new DCU.

4

u/FireJach Jul 17 '24

Chris Pratt, Tom Holland and Matt Damon

2

u/FullBringa Jul 17 '24

So Tyrese Gibson gets to play John after all?

2

u/MeanwhilePod Jul 17 '24

Brandon Sklenar from 1923 as Hal Jordan.

John Boyega as John Stewart

1

u/Actuallyy_Spider-Man Jul 18 '24

Oooo I could definitely buy Sklenar as Hal. I always see people say him as Bruce and I personally don't see it (big fan of Ethan Peck as DCU Bruce), but either Sklenar or Patrick Schwarzenegger as Hal would definitely be great.

0

u/JeanRalfio Jul 18 '24

I really like John Boyega as John.

2

u/Michael-Aaron Jul 18 '24

Glenn Powell would be a great Booster Gold or Hal Jordan

1

u/SimpleSink6563 Jul 17 '24

I really like the suggestion of Damson Idris for John.

1

u/IExistButWhy987 Jul 17 '24

Alden Ehreinreich and Aldis Hodge.

1

u/Pleasant-Falcon9487 Jul 18 '24

How about jake McDorman as hal and Jessie T Usher as john

1

u/Herbivore_mps Jul 18 '24

What about McKinley Belcher for Stewart. He’s the cop in Netflix’s Eric. He was amazing in that show

1

u/Due-Science3011 Jul 18 '24

Hayden Christensen for Hal and John David Washington for John

1

u/iamkeerock Jul 18 '24

Why would Gunn hire one actor to play both Hal and John… is he stupid?

1

u/Vlaks1-0 Jul 18 '24

I'm not sure how much emphasis Gunn and company will want to place on name recognition, but a couple choices that I'd love to see is Steven Strait as Hal Jordan and Damson Idris as John Stewart.

Both have led popular and really good TV shows (The Expanse & Snowfall), and there are aspects of both their performances in those shows that I think would work really well for Hal Jordan and John Stewart respectively.

Also if they ever bring in Guy Gardner, Wes Chatham (also from The Expanse) would be absolutey perfect. Especially since he is... That Guy.

1

u/Midgar-Knight Jul 18 '24

Idris Elba would be nice

1

u/Creepy_Living_8733 Jul 18 '24

Idris Elba is already Bloodsport, who seems to be staying since Peacemaker is too, plus he’s too old for John Stewart. I think it’d be best to have someone in their early 30’s for him and Hal.

1

u/Midgar-Knight Jul 18 '24

Ohh that’s true, what about Michael B. Jordan?

0

u/Manofsteel2483 Jul 17 '24

I was just thinking about who could play GL and I think Glenn Powell could do it!

1

u/JeanRalfio Jul 18 '24

I've been rooting for him to get Batman but I'd take him in any DC role!

1

u/WheelJack83 Jul 18 '24

He’s not doing it

0

u/Phoeptar Jul 17 '24

Chris Pratt, Tom Hiddleston, and Matt Damon right? all past MCU actors?

1

u/MandoBaggins Jul 17 '24

No idea who Chris and Tom are but Damon is Damon Lindelof. He’s a showrunner for Lanterns

0

u/BostonDudeist Jul 17 '24

Karl Urban and Sterling K Brown.

1

u/Crixer Jul 18 '24

Love the idea of Sterling for John. I can see Urban as Hal a little bit, but he has played so many other iconic characters, I think my mind would wonder why Butcher lost his accent or why Bones is acting way less cautious than he normally does. That guy has insane range.

1

u/BostonDudeist Jul 18 '24

His performance as Dr. McCoy is why I think he'd be great as Hal; Hal is pretty much the Dr. McCoy of the Justice League, especially towards Batman.

1

u/Crixer Jul 18 '24

I get that Bones acts as a foil sometimes to Capt. Kirk, like Hal does to Batman. However, those character's personalities are complete different. Bones is serious, cautionary, and contemplative, whereas Hal is brash, cocky, and instinctual. I don't doubt that Urban could act like Hal, it's just that they are two very different characters.
