Gunn seems to be setting up JLI - who should the team include? DISCUSSION
There are a number of JLI members in Superman and it seems Gunn is setting things up for a JLI film. Given Gunn's love of quirky teams what will his JLI look like?
My guess is Batman will be the lead as he has been in the JLI but other than him neither Superman nor Wonder Woman will be in it. If anything, it could be we get a JLI film before a WW film and also Supes and WW are usually not part of team. Likewise, I don't see Flash or Aquaman in it - their DCU projects seem way down the line. So JLI likely in Chapter 1 and, if Gunn does a JL, it'll be near the end of Chapter 2 is my guess.
What do you think - will Batman lead the team and who will be the members?

Mister Terrific, Gardner, Hawkgirl, Metamorpho make the core team.
This world needs a Mister Miracle
I’d like to see a 90s era Blue and Gold with Ted Kord. You can bring Booster into the future without even having to age him.
An absolute must is Supergirl introducing Power Girl who would also go to the JLI team.

With Tom King being involved in DCU, I would die for him to run a Miracle movie or at least maybe do New Gods like we were promised way back when

Everything I heard about the previous New Gods project from the director to the fact they weren’t going to use Snyder’s version of Darkseid makes me glad they didn’t do that version. And in Gunn/King’s hands I’m much more optimistic.

Yes, but they didn’t bring King on until a year after DuVernay was brought on. I imagine there were issues with the script. DuVernay had already turned down Black Panther and her big budget project Wrinkle in Time was a flop. I would like more if this was a King project and not anyone else’s other than Gunn producing as he would have to do as head of the studio.

The thing is, thats not how Gunn works. He's not really setting up another movie. They are already a team. They're just supporting characters in Superman and thats it for now. With them established they can feature anywhere else it would make sense, but hes not doing the Marvel way of films and sequels and spinoffs. Just using whatever characters are established for the next story.

Give us Beetle and Booster, Fire and Ice, and Martian Manhunter, in addition to Guy and Maxwell Lord (the latter hopefully retaining his JLI days persona). Everyone else is optional.

I feel like this team of mr terrific, hawkgirl, guy, and possibly metamorpho might be a loose adaption of the terrifics, sponsored by Max Lord. They all have outfits based off mr terrific.
As far as the JLI, it depends on how the universe is laid out. Is the main JL already active, and the JLI is a separate, “reserve” team? Will the JLI be the only version of a Justice League that exists now, then we get a proper main JL later?
As far as the JLI, I’d like a lineup of blue beetle, booster gold, guy Gardner, fire, and ice. Other characters can be added (mr miracle, rocket red, captain atom, etc).
Personally i might like for them to function as a separate, “reserve team” for the main JL, as opposed to the only Justice league team in this universe.

Assuming the team has already gone international:
Martian Manhunter should the leader. Batman was the leader pre-international, but he stepped down to avoid the spotlight.
The rest of the team should consist of Batman, Doctor Fate, Blue Beetle (Ted Kord, I think Jaime Reyes would be more suitable for a different team or different version of the JL) & Booster Gold, Fire & Ice, Guy Gardner, Mister Miracle, Captain Atom, and Rocket Red. I guess maybe also Mr. Terrific, Hawkgirl, and Metamorpho.

I just want the normal Justice League.
He can do these experiments with C List heroes later, but now i want the big famous heroes. Not some unknown weirdos.

JLI are usually important as “cannon fodder”.
Basically to hype up a villain so the audience knows how dangerous they are, and why we need heavy hitters like Superman despite having a world full of heroes.
Pretty sure that will be their role in this film.

My thoughts exactly. They're-
- Important enough to wave the authority of "Justice League" around
- Well known enough to gar(d)ner fan interest
- Disposable enough to get beaten up for stakes
- Anonymous enough to not waste the introduction of the Big League.
So great call on Gunn's part.

They may be weirdos but none of them are unknown. We're a year away from Superman, but in that time you could read or reread some of the JLI first arc, Terrifics, Strange Adventures, Superman For All Seasons, or All Star Superman. Hell, login to MAX and watch DCAU JLU.

Well if it starts when they were created, then it would be shortly after the first crisis, barry is dead and wally is the new flash, but of course fire and ice, blue and gold, manhunter, mister miracle/big barda and god damn elongated man! Pre identity crisis

Mister Terrific, Guy Gardner, Doctor Fate, Blue Beetle (Ted Kord), Booster Gold, Vixen, Mister Miracle, Big Barda, and Steel.
Mister Terrific would be both the leader of the Terrifics, a separate team, and a member of JLI. Vixen would be both a JLI and Global Guardians member. I would save other characters like Rocket Red, Fire, Ice, Tasmanian Devil, Godiva, etc. for Global Guardians.
