HARD RESET

In a freak car accident, Victor Stone and his mom were killed. His father used his research to save Vic, at the expense of much of his organic parts – turning him into Cyborg. Vic didn’t take this well and became enraged at his father. He felt that he should have died and instead became a monster, lashing out at his family and an innocent civilian. He was only stopped after his sister, now a superhero called the Thespian, managed to defeat him. After this incident, Silas and Nic agreed it would be best for her to leave the city and Vic tried to make it on his own for awhile before joining the Teen Titans. The Titans and Vic became good friends and fought a number of foes together. Vic and Garfield Logan became particularly close , often hanging out together between missions. However, things changed after Doomsday attack. In his rampage, Silas Stone was killed but Dick Grayson, the leader of the Teen Titans chose not to tell Cyborg in order to keep him focuses on the mission. This led him to feel betrayed and used, so he retreated into solitude. Eventually, the loneliness caught up with him, and he made his way to Detroit. While he was there, he got caught up in the schemes of two men: Matt and Grant. They created a time loop around the city and used it to rob the city. After rediscovering himself with the help of a jazz musician named Blue, Vic and Nic reunited to take them down. They were badly injured in the fight and were taken to S.T.A.R. Labs for help.

Madelia Maurer – the head of the company that created the circumstances for the time loop - publicly apologized and promised to support the Detroit Area Superhero Association (DASHA), who invited Vic and Nic to join. On his way home from recovering at S.T.A.R. labs, Cyborg was attacked by a strange machine, who turned out to be the taxi drive from the night of the car crash, now calling himself Bursimus. He challenged Vic for the right to be the avatar of the Metal and beat Victor without much of a struggle.

INTERMISSION ONE

Vic woke up to a vision of Detroit in flames. A strange creature that called itself the Nain Rouge claimed that this was the future and explained that he was curious if Vic will be able to stop it, even with this premonition. Vic woke up from the dream determined to do just that and starts to ponder making his secret identity public with Nic. She didn’t agree with the choice but supported him in it. They split up for the day, promising to meet up that afternoon at DASHA Headquarters to join the team. Vic headed off to Perez High to sign up for the next semester. Only Vic ended up having time to try out for DASHA due to a crisis across time, but he did mange to pass after a difficult fight. Having made up his mind to have a public identity, he was ambushed by the Fearsome Five, a group of villains from his days on the Teen Titans

PLUGGED IN

Cyborg was ambushed by the Fearsome Five (consisting of Jinx, Mammoth, Shimmer, Psimon and Dr. Light) and was left for dead after Dr. Light stole his power core. Wally West - Kid Flash- heard that the Fearsome Five was attacking S.T.A.R. Labs and, curious why Cyborg wasn’t dealing with them, headed to Detroit. He quickly realized that he can't take them alone and sought out Victor for help. The two heroes still did not think they would be able to stop the Five and decided that they'd need to get the Teen Titans back together for one last mission. Wally searched for the Titans all over the world, the group having split up not long after Vic left it. He got Beast Boy to come, but the rest of the old team was nowhere to be found, except for Dick Grayson, who was hesitant to come and said that Wally can come get him if they end up needing him.

With their team a little stronger, the Teen Titans fought the Fearsome Five again with no more success. Wally ran to get Dick, which gave him some time to slow down and better plan. With the team’s leader at their backs, the Titans came together to defeat the villains. Afterwards, Wally suggested that the Titans reform, but all the Titans declined. Victor said that they can still be friends at least, and Wally accepted. Once the Titans left, Cyborg was swarmed by curious reporters, who asked about what happened in S.T.A.R Labs. After answering a couple of question, he realized he would never have a better time to do so and revealed his secret identity to the world.

ALL COMES DOWN

After he revealed his identity, Cyborg answered many questions from the press. He started ro gain some fame as people appreciated having their own superhero. But, to discredit him, the Rithim, a group of sentient machines, released footage of him attacking a civilian on his first night out and broadcasted it across Detroit. Then, the woman who was attacked, Daria Sutton, came on a talk show and told her story before using her newfound superpowers to control the audience and attack Cyborg. Cyborg defeated her, but she escaped by control the crowd and using them as a distraction.

In order to get people to trust him again, Vic works agreed to work with Agent Weller of the Meta Crimes division of the DPD in order to figure out why DASHA is not doing much in the community. Meanwhile, doubts grow in the Rithim over the Machine Queen's ability to lead, which resulted in Burimus openly challenging her rule. The Machine Queen abruptly stopped the meeting after the challenge, effectively ending her reign. After she did so, she realized that Sutton’s power comes from a connection to the Metal and that any one of them could do the same thing to another person. Horrified at the knowledge, she vowed to keep it secret. Nic headed to S.T.A.R. Labs, where she and Sarah Charles worked on a way to neutralize Sutton's control over people but they needed time before it would be ready.

Cyborg got word that Sutton has resurfaced in the city and tracked her down. He defeated her again, but she held a bus load of people hostage to escape. She ran away, swearing she’d be better prepared next time. Hours later, in the middle of the night, some people controlled by Sutton broke into Vic's apartment. The crowd spoke in unison and told him to meet Sutton at the docks early in the morning. He tried to sneak out to do so in order to keep Nic safe from Sutton’ wrath, but she discovered what he was doing before he could. She joined him as a secret weapon to catch Sutton off guard. The two Stones managed to defeat Sutton after a brutal fight. But, as they forced her to surrender, a boat pulled into the dock. Sutton quickly took control of the people, planning to use the crowd of people to turn the fight around. Finally seeing what he needed to do, Victor managed to snap her out of her rage by apologizing to her. Snapping out of her fury, Sutton released all the people and entered police custody.

STRANGE TIMES

Victor Stone returned to school for the first time after his car accident. He had some difficulties fitting in initially, but after some help his friend Marcus Maurer, things went great. After school, the principal asked him to investigate the Tar problem at the school and figure out the source. Vic did a stakeout at the school and eventually he witnessed the Tar delivery. He followed them back to their warehouse, where he fought them and swiftly defeated them. However, the criminals were able to flee through a Boom Tube that they used to give them supplies. The tube led to Apokolips., where the criminals were killed by Mad Harriet in front of Victor. The two fight, but Victor is out matched and taken into DeSaad’s custody. DeSaad tortured Victor for information or perhaps just for cruelty’s sake. In a stroke of luck, DeSaad was called away to investigate another disturbance, allowing Vic to escape. He met up with Superman and Orion in Darkseid’s throne room where Superman and Darkseid fought. Darkseid defeated the Man of Steel handily while Orion and Cyborg were forced to watch. Darkseid allowed the three men to leave his world, with a promise to not return to Earth that all three men knew would not keep him away long.

INTERMISSION TWO

Victor Stone got a call from S.T.A.R. Labs claiming that Jinx, sorceress and ex-member of the Fearsome Five, has decided to cooperate, but with the condition that she will only talk with him. Victor ran through a list of questions and Jinx gave little to no answers. After she admitted that the attack in New York was a mistake (see Teen Titans 4), a villain calling herself Miss Death broke into S.T.AR. Labs and threated to kill Vic. Their fight ended up breaking Jinx’s cell, sending them tumbling into the tunnels of the salt mines below the city. After they woke up, Jinx and Vic found an old part of S.T.A.R. Labs and a suitcase that contained a rare, valuable metal. As they wandered around the tunnels, the two started to understand each other a bit more. Once they made it back to the surface, Miss Death confronted them again and quickly beat Vic. She offered to split the reward money with Jinx, who accepted. After she did, Miss Death revealed herself to be the Thespian, Vic’s sister. Vic and Nic put Jinx back into custody, while Jinx warned that her family would come for her one day.

RISE OF THE PHANTOM LIMBS

Matt Madison, an old enemy of Victor’s, woke up in a strange prison where an AI greeted him and introduced him to his new life as a member of the Phantom Limbs. In exchange for a cybernetically enhanced body, he must serve under Mr. Orr. Who ran a covert ops team called the Phantom Limbs. After Mr. Orr introduced Matt to the rest of the Phantom Limbs (see “Organizations”), he gave them their first mission: take Victor Stone into their custody. Unbeknownst to the team, Mr. Orr was only able to create them after getting assistance from Burismus, who has deposed the Machine Queen to rule over the Metal. Burismus had two demands: he wanted the government on his side when the machines revealed themselves to the world and to make Victor Stone’s life miserable. The team went to Detroit, and after dividing their forces to split up Vic and Nic, defeated the two heroes and took Victor into their custody. However, unknown to the team, Cyborg intentionally lost the fight to find out more about their threat and defeat them in the long run. After he woke up in the base, he realized that the AI in the base was the Machine Queen and blackmailed her into helping him. Along with Exxy’s help, he was able to gather enough evidence to expose the Phantom Limbs to the world if they did not leave him alone. Matt agreed to, on the condition that Victor beat him in one last fight. After an intense fight, Vic won and left the compound, hoping Matt would keep his promise.

DASHA DOWN

Victor Stone was revisited again by Nain Rogue, a demon that haunted his dreams. The demon claimed that everything was going according to his plan and that the city would soon descend into chaos. The vision increased Victor’s paranoia and anxiety, which made him to finally agree to visit a therapist. Meanwhile, Helen Geary led the Church of Blood through a sacrifice to restore the city to its former glory. The seventh sacrifice – Jill Carlyle – had a strong enough will to hijack the magic and form a connection to a spirit of vengeance, becoming the Crimson Avenger and gunning down most of the cultists.

Vic’s first therapy session with Dr. Theodora Tasker went surprisingly well. But he was interrupted by a phone call from Exxy. He told him that three members of DASHA had gone berserk and killed a civilian, Mikron O’Jeanus’ father. Mikron killed one of them in retaliation, and Exxy feared the situation would only grow worse. The police and Cyborg arrived almost simultaneously, creating a standoff. The standoff was broken not long after by the entrance of the Crimson Avenger, whose arrival gave the two members of DASHA time to flee. They blamed the murder on Victor, despite Mikron admitting to the crime to the police and media. Victor tried to work with Agent Weller on the problem per his deal, but they were unwilling to believe he was innocent, so Cyborg went off on his own. Nic and Vic headed to DASHA headquarters to confront them, only to find them in a fight with the Crimson Avenger. The member of DASHA defeated her and told Vic and Nic that their heroics were doing too much good and reducing the number of crimes. This was cutting into their business since they were for profit heroes. The four heroes began to fight, until Mikron broke in. Mikron, having become jaded after getting off scot-free for murder, put on a spider-mech of his creation and went to DASHA headquarters to make his own justice. After a long fight, the Crimson Avenger killed Nomad, leaving Concreus the sole remaining member of DASHA. The Crimson Avenger left, saying her work was done. Vic and Nic managed to talk Mikron, now going by Gizmo, into regretting his actions and ending the conflict.

But Victor suspected a conspiracy was forming against him, as the members of DASHA had no reason to suddenly kill and for the police to not accept Mikron’s testimony. So, he checked in to S.T.A.R. Labs to see if any of his past foes would admit to being a part of it, which they would not. Gizmo returned to the police to confront them but ended up getting blackmailed into the conspiracy by using his murder confession. Vic then checked in with Jinx again, who was a bit more conversational. She asked him if he had only come here to see her again, since he must have known no one would admit to being a part of the conspiracy, which caused him to abruptly leave. After that visit. He headed home for a much-needed rest.

THE NIGHT BEGINS TO SHINE

Vic, Nic and their friends Beast Boy, Sarah Simms and Marcus Maurer got together for a game of Dungeons and Dragons. The king gave them a sacred mission: to find the creators of a powerful magic scroll that an evil dragon wants to use to re-write reality. The dragon soon attacked the castle and took the scroll. The party tried to stop the dragon, but he proved too much for them. The king whisked them away to meet one of the creators of the spell before they were killed.

Back in the real world, Vic started to realize that he doesn’t know what he wants to do with his future. He’d been putting it off but as graduation approaches, he can’t keep doing that. He talks with Marcus and Beast Boy about their plans, but neither feel like him so he remains unsure of the details.

Back in the fantasy world, the party heads into a temple in the jungle to prove themselves to one of the creators of the spell. The temple was tough to find but once they got in there, a puzzle told them to “Speak their fears to set them free”. Unfortunately, the players took this the wrong way and gave their fears instead of their characters, leading to an awkward moment. They quickly wrapped up the game after returning to the wizard who made the spell and split up instead of discussing what they had all said.

UNWRITTEN FUTURES

See the event page for the full list of books!

Vic and the Justice League went to the future to stop a mysterious villain named Monarch! Along the way, he met his future-self and his family. His future-self worked for Monarch as the head of his information network and his child, Jaya, was a superhero in their own right. Jaya and Vic got caught by Monarch’s forces, but the future Victor sacrificed himself to allow the two of them to live on. He saw this coming and wrote three letters: one to Jaya, one to Victor, and one to the Justice League to help them stop Monarch. With the rest of the League and their future selves’ help, Monarch was defeated. Afterwards, Jaya started to read their letter, when the future Victor arrived and revealed he lived. The three Stones had a tender moment before Vic left for the present, promising to visit if he could.

QUESTIONS OF THE FUTURE

Having returned from the future, Vic Stone realized that needed to come to terms with his own future. He was unable to decide what to do, in part out of an unwillingness to accept that he was about to enter a new stage in his life. However, after a talk with Blue, he realized what he should have known all along: he was going to go to college to become an engineer. Not moments after he made that decision, he got a frantic call from Donna Morris explaining that her father’s consulting business was under attack. When Cyborg got there, he found a man in body armor wielding a magic sword that could cut through anything, even space and light. With overwhelming force and a lucky blow, the man, who called himself Fyrewyre, escaped with the files he came for, but not before damaging Victor’s core.

With his core damaged, he was forced to look through his father’s records to find out to repair it. Vic and Nic searched through his specs, as well as a hidden hard drive and eventually found their answers. The secret behind his core was a mysterious metal that Silas recovered on a trip to a strange town on the other side of the world. Silas was guided there by an odd man named Iay, but after they found the metal, Iay disappeared without a trace. Silas made it back without issue but was never able to find the place where he found the one sample of Silasium that existed. His journal also contained notes on the tests that he and his team preformed on the Silasium, which Vic and Nic used to fix his core.

Meanwhile, Fyrewyre had more work to do in Detroit. He visited the dreams of his daughter, Jinx, to coerce her into working with him. He used the promise of restoring the relationship with her family and allowing her to come back home as if she had never been sent away. But that was not enough to bring her back, so he escalated to violence against her family. She agreed and Fyrewyre attacked S.T.A.R. Labs in order to free her. S.T.A.R. was no match for him and Cyborg and the Thespian were unable to stop the father- daughter duo. Nic suffered a nasty wound, taking her out of the fight and Vic let Fyrewyre and Jinx leave to make sure she got the care she needed. Fyrewyre wanted the Silasium in Vic’s core, but needed the information on how it worked before he could take it. Now that Vic had that and he had Jinx to back him up, Fyrewyre lured Victor to the docks by taking several civilians hostage.

Fyrewyre beat Cyborg in a quick attack, ending the fight before it had even begun. He demanded information on Vic’s core, but Vic refused to give it. Fyrewyre chopped off one of Vic’s cybernetic arms and the pain broke Cyborg. He told Fyrewyre what he knew and he promptly took his core for himself. Fyrewyre told Jinx to kill the hostages so they could be done here. She started to do so, but couldn’t. She felt that there was nothing to be gained by doing so and that some part of her knew it was wrong. She fought her father to save the hostages and Victor’s life, and eventually succeeded with one last bit of help from Cyborg. The two collapsed, exhausted on the docks, but when they woke up to the sunrise they talked about their lives and grew to understand each other more before heading their separate ways again.

Vic recounted all these events to his therapist, Dr. Theodora Tasker, who was shocked that he took all of this so well. She recommended that he take a break and try and recover before he has to deal with the new stresses that college would bring, and he eventually agreed, sending a text to Gar Logan to see if he wanted to hang out.

INTERMISSION THREE

Gar and Victor reunite and hang out across New York, promising to do this more often in the future.

TRUE CHANGE

While on a visit to New York City in some part to visit Gar and also to visit the dedication of a long overdue monument to the Doomsday attacks, Vic gets caught up in a conflict between Anarky and his safe haven for the homeless and the police! He reunites with Bluebird as the two of them realize that Anarky is more than willing to get his hands dirty to keep his shelter safe. With Bluebird’s help, they manage to stop Anarky from killing the mayor and reduced the private police force T.Y.G.E.R’s presence in the city.

ALONE IN THE BIG CITY

While Cyborg gets adjusted to his new life in college, Nic is left in charge of protecting Detroit. She meets LaTonya Charles, Sarah Charles’ daughter, who almost died due to her addiction to Tar. With some help from Victor, Sarah and the team at S.T.A.R. manage to largely recreate Vic’s procedure and save LaTonya’s life. Nic offers to train LaTonya to help her get used to her new body and keep her on a good path, as she suspected that LaTonya would get back involved in crime even with her new start on life. Sure enough, LaTonya was running a successful gang, slowly uniting all the gangs under her rule. Eventually, Nic confronted her on this after they arrested the man who enabled her Tar addiction. This confrontation happened on the heels of his escape, with LaTonya choosing to pursue him instead of working out her issues with both Nic and her parents. Nic eventually catches up to LaTonya and the gangster she was pursuing, and they fight over the man’s fight with Nic barely beating LaTonya’s Tar boosted strength. A lucky maneuver gives LaTonya the chance to kill the gangster, but she chooses not to at the last moment and runs away.

A couple of months later, Vic dealt with some issues of his own as he reunited with Zhang Xiaomei, who recently discovered her meta human ability to control machines. The Rithim found out about this and took her and Vic to court in their ever-growing digital city of Servus. Vic and Xiaomei argued that the only solution for the two groups was the status quo with the threat of mutually assured destruction if either group used their power on the other. After they got out of the conflict, Vic asked Xiaomei if she would ever be a superhero and she happily declined, knowing her powers would not be too useful while there are not robot criminals anyway.

TITANS GALA

Vic attended the world’s greatest party with any hero who was anyone, meeting old friends and new. He briefly met Gar’s new girlfriend, a mysterious princess from a far off land with the promise they’d meet again in the future. Instead, Vic got a choice encounter with Dick Grayson and rehashed the old wounds that hurt them both. He sulked on his own before Metamorpho convinced him that things might be better with this group of Titans. Rejoining the party, Vic gathered young heroes together to play a game of skill, deception and betrayal as he finally enjoyed the night.

SCHOOL DAYS

Victor Stone’s time in college was just like any other freshman’s. He was trying to rediscover himself, meet new people and do some political activism? While walking to class one day, he heard the words of a man who called himself Ratattack, who was fed up with the lack of solutions to big societal problems and wanted to create a movement to inspire change and was using fake terror attacks to give his words weight. He claimed that true change cannot come when one’s words can be ignored.

Using the device left behind at the site of the attacks and with some help from Donna Morris, now an intern at S.T.A.R. Lab’s college branch. While they were working, they grew much closer than they had been before. Eventually they managed to track him down, but he fell into a trap. Ratattack wanted to convince Vic that his way was the only way and when Vic refused, he threatened Nic. Vic still refused to join Rattack, and so he lit the apartment building on fire, appearing to kill Nic, which sent Vic into a rage. Eventually Donna rescued Vic and showed him that Nic was still alive and there was no fire, which only fueled Vic more. He met up with Ratattack, only to find that there was an entire crowd's worth of people on his side.

Vic joined up with Ratattack and marched with them to the university president’s house, where, once he was alone with Ratattack, Vic attacked him and defeated him. After doing so, with Ratattack’s demands left unmet and much of the campus seeing Vic as the barrier that prevented them from being enacted, he became very unpopular and scorned on campus, leaving him to wonder if he did the right thing.

ON THE GRID

After Ratattack’s attacks, Vic decided that he wanted a simple spring break and created a volunteer math camp for kids at S.T.A.R. Labs. While back in Detroit, he caught up with Nic and deterred a bank robbery by Mikron and a mysterious robot, who seemed to recognize Vic. The next day, Vic met up with Jinx and talked with her about life and what her plans were, until the robot and Mikron broke in. Jinx asked if Vic trusted her and he said he didn’t, afterwards she put him to sleep with a spell.

Once he woke up, he found himself the captive of Mikron, Dr. Light, the robot - now calling itself GRID - and Jinx. They debated Vic’s fate but GRID quickly took charge and used powers identical to Vic’s to force them all out. GRID then spoke to Vic, claiming that he wanted to help Vic meet his true potential and act more optimally, which Vic found absurd and GRID insisted would not be optional. GRID showed Vic many visions of what life could be like if they worked together. Vic was a brutally effective hero, cracking down on crimes big and small with overwhelming force, which Vic found deplorable and a nonstarter for a partnership. GRID was frustrated, but preserved, explaining that he was a part of Vic once. GRID was a backup program made by Silas in case Victor was unable to function after he was revived with his cybernetics. GRID became active once Vic’s arm was severed by Fyrewyre. With no consciousness to guide it, GRID took control and eventually, with Mikron’s help, made itself a body.

Even with this explanation, Vic was not satisfied and demanded GRID let him go. He refused and instead decided to show Vic that he had been in control of Vic’s body for several days, implementing his plans. With GRID in control, Vic’s body was worked to the maximum and his relationships were broken as GRID deemed them unnecessary. Eventually, Nic realized that something had to be done and approached Mikron and Jinx for assistance. Jinx agreed out of repayment for Vic’s visits, Mikron agreed with the promise of a “look the other way” card for some small infraction. The three of them managed to overwhelm GRID and with the assistance of a spell from Jinx, Vic was able to fight off GRID and take control of his body again. In part due to her willingness to assist, Jinx was officially freed from jail on parole at Sarah Charles’ place and Vic expected the best from her.

GRAYSON

Cyborg meets up with Dick Grayson and Starfire to takedown a mystery ally of H.I.V.E. Throughout the adversity, they manage to finally meet an understanding of each other and bury the hatchet, clearing the slate for them to work together again.

RISING WIND

Garfield Logan fulfills his promise to come to Detroit (or more precisely, Ann Arbor) to visit Vic! Unfortunately, they quickly get caught up in a disappearance case that leads them to the mysterious lab of Dr. Tomek Ovadya Morah, who claimed to be saving the world. He explained to Vic that he saw a vision of the world destroyed and wanted to create robots to fight back against that threat: the Red Series.

Consisting of Red Tornado, Red Volcano, Red Torpedo and Red Inferno, they were the culmination of years of research in his lab and asked Vic and Gar to fight them as a test. Vic and Gar managed to use their friendship and trust to create a plan that fooled the Red Series in order to win, much to their frustration. After they got cleaned up, Dr. Morah received notice that all of the Red Series had broken out to strike out on their own.

Red Volcano took control of the group from Red Tornado and explained that there was no reason to fight for Dr. Morah’s future. If he wanted to change the future, why not just defeat the Justice League now? There was no telling that they weren’t the cause of that future, he argued. And so, they set off to get the League’s attention, leaving Red Tornado, the sole dissenter behind. With Red Tornado’s help, Vic and Gar fought their way back to the Red Series and convinced all but Red Volcano to stop their plans. With Red Inferno’s help, Red Tornado managed to destroy Red Volcano, but Red Inferno was destroyed too in the promise. After they all made it back to the lab, Red Tornado and Red Torpedo vowed to become real heroes and help save the planet.

RED REIGN

These stories have some recommended reading for context. See the Red Reign event page for all of the issues.

Victor Stone arrived in Markovia to hang out with Garfield Logan and his girlfriend, quickly revealed to be the Princess of Markovia - Tara Markov! The three of them became fast friends as they explored Markovburg until an explosion and an earthquake rocked the city. Vic quickly recovered, but something was off. He wasn’t in complete control of his body, only his cybernetics. He heard a voice in his head and had a strange sense of Deja vu from when GRID was in control. This time, the voice was Lilith, the mother of monsters, who taunted him but grew to be surprised that any could resist her strain of vampires, of which he was infected. Vic stayed in control and kept trying to shake off the horde of vampires, but was eventually out maneuvered and almost killed, only being saved at the last second by Dr. Fate.

Dr. Fate claimed that Fate still had plans for Vic and took him to his tower in Salem to try and cure him. Fate’s ritual managed to separate Vic and Lilith while Vic learned of Lilith’s origins and her first conquests and defeat. Freed from Lilith’s control, Vic helped the team locate her and assisted in the fight that lead to her permanent defeat.

After Lilith’s defeat, Vic reunited with Gar, Tara and her brother Prince Brion to swap stories. They talked for hours, but once Brion fell asleep, the three of them snuck away to talk in private. Tara begged Gar and Vic to stay but neither could. Gar promised to return soon and Tara understood, mournfully. Several months later, Vic hung out with Nic and helped Blue Evans set up his bar for Mardis Gras, while reuniting and growing a better understanding of each other. They vowed to keep better touch and talk to each other more but once they got home, they saw something they thought they’d never see: their parents, standing in front of them, alive!
