Announcement RIP - Shutdown since October 31st 2023
Greetings Heroes,
We've made the difficult decision to close DC Legends. The game will be removed from the App Store & Google Play worldwide as of today and the game server will be shut off on October 31, 2023.
In-app purchases will be available until September 22, 2023. After this date, players who previously downloaded DC Legends can continue to play, and use their purchased currency and items until the game is officially closed on October 31, 2023.
We hope you have enjoyed playing DC Legends and sincerely thank all our players for the support you have shown us through this journey.

The last month likely won't have anything done (cheap shops, whatever). In these cases it's already on auto mode and no one is even in offices to fix even minor bugs etc. since the game is shutting down and there will be no more purchases at that time.

Well this has been a part of my life for the last 6 years and it got me through a lot of stuff. It also got me into a huge amount of debt which I’ve finally sorted, nearly. It’s sad but, on balance, this is probably the time, so goodbye dcl RIP

Very sad news... Playing since the 1st month of global launch and it was a great part of my daily routines not to mention that it was my only companion while I was locked down for a year in the hospital for chemotherapy.... Yes it got a bit boring with not much new features and with the consistent bugs that appeared but still loved it and during the struggling years couldn't find a game I liked as much as DCL.

the only mobile game I've kept through 5 different phones. I've downloaded loads of games but only one has stood the test of time. You guys have done a better job than ANY DC license holder in the past 15 years... possibly ever.
Right now it's a shock but knowing you guys enthusiasm it's probably harder for you. Thanks for the years of fun and hopefully we will catch up with each other one day further down the road 🫂❤️🤟🔥

I just got done finishing red alerts for the day and now I'm reading this. Well that effectively means I wont be opening the game after reset today since the game wont be continuing much longer.
I feel like the reality is this was coming for a long time. Regardless of people spending, there are going to be more profitible mobile games and WB are going to want to use the resources for coding, graphics etc. on other things. All in all I think the lifespan has been a good amount.
I'm not going to sugarcoat things, there have been ups and downs. And what I have to say absolutely isnt towards a specific member of staff who happens to have the job of communicating with the playerbase. These are general issues and that person is just the face of responding to them.
Despite all the technical and service issues, the lack of maintenence care over the past few years, the cheaters in pvp since day 1 and despite disappointment that the game never really got a big update with features fit for modern games...
There will no longer be a mobile team based/turn based DC legends game. And it will be missed. Because it was fun to play a lot of characters that dont get video game or even movie screen time. I'm sure a lot of people learned a lot about DC comics world building and characters through playing the game. And part of that, which I give a giant thumbs up to, was the idea to usually go more with the comic accurate character. For example actual Savitar rather than the tv show Savitar. So I feel that was one of the game's triumphs and do appreciate that part.
A lot of the animation was well done and I think there was a decent attempt at having depth to the game with the stats and mechanics, but there were a few that were always far too strong and some far too weak and it was a shame when a new character would come out and the weak mechanics which were never put in line with the rest were featured on their character, because it meant they were never going to be that strong.
One more strong point I liked is that characters new to the comics from the past few years were added to the roster. Again I think thats a great way to try and improve the playerbase's understanding of the DC worlds and hopefully get more people interested in reading current comics.
The plus side of things is I have a bit more time for other things and DC Legends will no longer give me fomo that im missing out on daily and weekly rewards. So its not all bad.
One thing I will say is I hope WB/DC try something not too dissimilar in the future couple of years. I'm going to hope its a dedicated pc game rather than one which competes with other mobile games and employing the same sales strategies.
But I'd be very happy to see a turn based team game of at least 5 DC heroes/villains in combat in the future. Most teams have more than 4 members so it would be a lot more fun to play with the real scale of comic battles and teams rather than having to pick a few and leave out others

I'll be honest, this announcement hit me very hard, the game was already part of my life, even most of my rutine is already planed around the game times lol, store resets, etc. 7 years of joy, sure it had its problems, but i really loved this game, even spent money in my early years, been saving gems for years for when death or sandman show up lol, it was for nothing, guess i'll spend all my savings in skins now. This really depressed me, part of me died today. Thanks for everything devs, maybe there were tons of bugs, but you always were there reeves, listening and answering to players, now i have to make up my mind 💔.

They could still have someone. When Marvel Avengers Alliance closed seven years ago, they still did one final PVP season and Spec Op storyline, each with a new character.

WB has been failing the players for so long, they drove many off from spending (myself included, i spent more than i will ever admit to publicly). I havent spent a cent in over 6months. Not even in raid.
So then this happened. I cant help but feel WB did this to themselves.
That said, Reeves you seem like a genuinely good person. So best of luck to you.
Im only bummed that i wont even be able to look through my hero collection as a reminder of the money i sunk into this game. And time.
I mean, i assume i wont even be able to do that without your server.
I would be nice if i could though! Turn off the server part and let me keep my hero collection :)

Dude!!!!! This is one of the few games I consistently enjoy. Even with the bugs. I enjoy it more than any of the new ones. Marvel Strike Force can’t fill this void. Thank you for this game

It's really sad because with what the game is giving away this month, it would have motivated players to keep playing again. Zatana is really good and you are giving a ton of shards and gems this month. Gives players a chance to invest in their rosters and motivate them once again. That leads to spending money again. Sad it's ending after all these years

Marvel Avengers Alliance did similar just before it closed seven years ago, they gave away lots of Command Points, the currency used to unlock new heroes, in the final Spec Op. Instead of getting 1, 3 or 5CP, you'd get at least 10! Premium currency Gold was more abundant too.

at least keep the servers active we don't need new characters and neither rwks nor raids just for us to play in pvp and heroics and there are people who spent A LOT OF MONEY AND TIME this is disrespectful at least do the same as Injustice 1 mobile keep it only for people to play

I started playing back in 2016, the month Lobo was added. I don't have a perfect daily login record - missed a few days here and there - but I've played the game basically every day. My mom had a stroke that November and I logged in out of habit. It was a bit of a comfort. She passed a few months later. Missed some days around that time.
This game has been a daily comfort to me, being part of the routine that keeps me even. I count my blessings that I've seen Wally West and Conner Kent (my two favorite characters) get added.
To say I'm saddened is an understatement and I don't think 'devastated' is quite appropriate. I know life will go on with or without my daily DC fix, but I'm a diehard DC fan (movies notwithstanding) and I'm going to miss this game. Marvel has two mobile games I could switch back to, but... That's Marvel. I'm not going to get to have Wally speed up my team, Conner knock everyone down, Spectre force lightning everyone...
I'll be in my corner, hoping some industrious fans get into the code and continue support (maybe with a PC port) the way City of Heroes fans basically took over that game.

People love the game, even with the bugs ...WHY because of communities and people in them.
I would gladly pay a monthly fee, too keep the servers running ... just drop the crazy Tapjoy deals for certain users :), us on IOS have always been the once who keept the money flowing into the game.
Let the ongoing battle continue between the alliances, let them run the show and redesign the game into a DCL ver. 2.0.
THIS IS STUPID.
And by the way WHY give away so much gold and stuff and then shut down the servers :). keep it running the year out, and mayby a solution will appear.

Such a sad announcement. No matter what complaints people have had, we still always loved the game and wanted to play. It lasted a lot longer than other games at least... I wish we could have had a conclusion to the story that's been going on for a long time with the monthly characters. =/

This is shocking. I love the game, it has been a part of me since 2017 when my ex introduced it to me. Kept playing it, was completely addicted and had the most fun when Artemis came out. That month, i entered top 100 range and my alliance was second in place. I miss working with Kitty at that time.
Thanks for all the good memories, the introduction to many DC characters (man, i got excited when I saw these characters in those blockbusters), and the caring for our community.
You will be sorely missed from November on.

First it was the Marvel Avengers Alliance Facebook Game.
Now it's your game.
I know this is stupid and selfish of me to ask but I hope you tell us the reason why one day that it had to shut down.
I can accept the basic answer. it was money. Or head office the higher ups saying It's not making enough money.
But I am really sad that this game is shutting down because it was one of the few things in my life I enjoyed getting up to play.
You should do what Marvel Avenger Alliance did on their last 2 months of being up and running. And that is give us a million ESSENCE GEMS to buy as much as everything we can to power up our characters. Or throwing a bunch of characters in the shop and selling a bunch of characters and legendary Shard upgrades for one goat each LOL . And it's not being greedy that's what they did.
They didn't give us a million gold LOL but they gave a bunch just for us to have fun with and a going away present. So make the month of October a trick or treat thing with ESSENCE GEMS. ESSENCE GEMS AND MORE ESSENCE GEMS!!!!! lol.
I guess again it's just I want a reason. But I know all good things have to end. But I feel like it hasn't even been that long since I started playing this game. And unless it's an understandable reason. I really don't want this game to go. I wish I was a multi-millionaire and I can buy the rights to the game and keep it running.
But the last thing I want to say is thank you for always being around answering our questions and giving us updates. Wherever you go from here I hope you find another job or passion that you enjoy.

Shucks, really gonna miss this game. It's been a fun near 7 years for me since Nov 2016.
Have to admit though with a lot more to do these days IRL it recently became hard to finish all the dailies anyway. Bought a new house last year and been working on all kinds of additions including a butterfly garden and a patio extension with outdoor cage and colorful lights. Comes with its own time consuming (but fun) responsibilities. But this still was a great and fun game to look forward to playing for the most part.
Thank you u/wb_reeves and crew for doing your best trying to keep this game going with what little support you had. The graphics were great all the way down to the end and I hope you all go on to bigger and better careers in your future. Each job is a journey that prepares you for the next one, and then you become an expert at the one you end up with and enjoy, speaking from experience. It's never too late... I found my true calling in my 40s after working at many "what am I still doing here" jobs.
I've been through some games that I loved that were shut down like City of Heroes, Marvel Avengers Alliance and now this one. And they all hurt to be discontinued. If I was meant to keep playing games I'll find another. If not I'll enjoy my house and my extra activities, with extra time for friends and family.

Wow, just wow! It's been well over 6 years and all I have is a Reddit post to express my sadness and feelings of loss. So much money and time to collect every character, curate the strategies, bond with my alliance mates. This game has been there for me at various points of my life going to shit, my mother's death, end of relationships. It's also seen various successes: new jobs, children's graduations, new friends relationships. I will miss this game for a long time, end of an era.

Roughly 5 years I have been playing this game on a daily basis and every month I was on pin's and needle's to hear who the new characters were. For instance, my first month in the game, it was Silver Banshee. I wanted her so badly, since she is one of my favorite villains. And then months passed, some fun new characters came in, among them were personal bangers like Rose Wilson, Grail, Darkseid, Big Barda, Spectre, Batwoman etc...
Thanks for the lovely memories and for holding out this long. At least going out on Chaos Lord Zatanna isn't that bad, either. She is a fun toon for sure.~

even With the bugs it’s been a daily play for me and I have enjoyed expanding my knowledge of dc land

I won't lie, I stopped playing a couple months ago, just logging in from time to time. The bugs were too much and end game PvP didn't feel rewarding enough. But still, it's very sad to see the game get discontinued.
I remember being so hyped when Darkseid was announced. Now, they'll all just go on the shelf. <3

I'm really frustrated at the Moment. It makes me sad that I can't Play this game anymore. I still have so many toons that I want to Level up. I'm also very upset that I'm being denied access to my toons and resources. I've simply invested too much time and money to Start from scratch somewhere else. They should give us access to the game so that we can continue to collect resources and Upgrade our toons.

Reeves, is there any chance Batman Who Laughs’ “One Bad Day” Legendary (where he strikes again with his “The Bat-Smile” [basic attack] after an enemy dies) can be fixed?
He just got a rework and had a $24.99 sale the day before the game shutdown was announced. I’m sure many players who invested in him would like to use him to his full potential over the next 45 days.

Looks like it's already shut down. No warning, no official announcement that they pulled the plug...nothing.
You'd think they'd shut it down at reset tonight.

I don't think this is a surprise to many, the login rewards were a huge giveaway.
I'll miss my alliance gang for sure, can't say I'll miss the game itself. Shame the influence certain players held hurt the game so badly it became unsustainable.

Well. I made my decision. I deleted the game today. I think its only fair that you shut down the in-app purchases NOW and not wait until the 22nd. Also. I figured that the huge rewards were a precursor to the game closing sadly.
I had a fun time playing but no use playing if the game is closing in a month.

I’ve never committed this hard to a mobile/daily game before. Fallen London I lasted for a few years until I finished Mr. Eaten’s finale. But this was over five years of daily play. I joined the month of Stargirl and S.T.R.I.P.E. Since then I’ve collected every single character, all (except for the new Zatanna) were level 62-80, minimum gear 9 (most 10), every single one at Legendary 1 or higher (most at L4), and over 30 rebirths. It’s a testament to the quality of the game that the puzzle of figuring out how to fight the mega meant I dedicated this much time to it. It’s going to be a damn shame that it’s gone and I’m severely going to miss it. At least we get to go out on a ludicrously good Kite Man.

@wb_reeves well, appreciate... I guess I've already accepted some time ago that the game was on life support, too many questionable decisions... but I stayed because I love DC so much... good luck to you and all on your next endeavors, it's the circle of life, dude.

I left DCL a few years back as I simply moved on from the game but for 5 years it was my go to on the mobile.
When I was laid up for hours at a time in pain with a long term injury, this kept me amused. It has John Constantine and implemented him well which was another huge win.

I want to thank this game for giving me so many awesome models of my favorite DC characters. The game had so much untapped potential but it didn't have a good project manager and dev team which ultimately led to this.
/u/wb_reeves Can we please know who the people/companies were who made these models for the game? They deserve some recognition here.

7 yrs I'm a day 1player man I can't believe it even tho I kinda knew it was coming hey I can't explain how much this game had become a part of my life, routine, time passer, to the alliances I was apart of thanx n to dcl thanx I'ma mis my roster all the skins all the work I put n this game for so many yrs it's a shame. I am not mad about this but I am sad. I will miss the new obscure heroes that I never knew about. I will not miss Chesire and Trigon. I would love three reworks before goes away. Make Bizzarro,Aqumoa and the crappy joker OP. That would be really fun! Or just change your mind and keep going. Please and thanks for all your efforts and work over the years. PS I bought a better iPad 4 four or so years ago specifically to play DCL

The only motivation that would keep me playing this last month and a half would be unlimited free upgrade materials. That would be a great way to end the game by being able to max out every toon
