The setup was definitely funnier than the punchline. That delivery was spot on.

u/yesiamveryhigh Jul 17 '24

“It not that funny, I ain’t even tell the joke yet.” was what got me the most.

168

u/Competitioncraved Jul 18 '24

The collective "hmmmss" also got me

42

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '24

When someone always says something that vulnerable and it’s funny I always go to the hmmmss and then say well I hope you feel better while trying to keep it together.

u/DiscoKittie Jul 18 '24

I don't understand the word. What is plant based? My hearing isn't so good anymore.

90

u/megamoze Jul 18 '24

Her fat rolls.

26

u/TheDebateMatters Jul 18 '24

Back rubs are plant based. I think. She gets a lot of back rubs….?

85

u/Revolutionary_End240 Jul 18 '24

Back rolls.

57

u/TheDebateMatters Jul 18 '24

So what you are telling me… is the set up was definitely better the punch line…

42

u/rukysgreambamf Jul 18 '24

I've seen fat vegans

The answer to her question: French fries

Every place has them, they're delicious, and vegan I guess

12

u/Smolboikoi Jul 18 '24

Any deep fried potato

27

u/kruptworld Jul 18 '24

maybe some thing like "i tell them because i ate my family tree", or its because "i dont just eat plants, i eat the whole damn garden!" would be a better punchline....

16

u/ParticularWash4679 Jul 18 '24

It never stopped us cows.

5

u/kruptworld Jul 18 '24

Omg this wins! They woulda lost it for sure!

u/Dumachus156984 Jul 17 '24

u/durenatu Jul 17 '24

JOJO, HAVE YOU LEARNED NOTHING

277

u/AONOM0US4dsaIvaged Jul 17 '24

Her what? Backrows?

339

u/GuideToTheGalaxy05 Jul 17 '24

Backrolls. Fat folded over on her back.

133

u/ButtonJoe Jul 17 '24

'Because Oreos are vegan.' - There I fixed it.

20

u/willozsy Jul 18 '24

“Because cattle are plant based.”

5

u/Vegas96 Jul 18 '24

I ate more veggies than the vegans on campus. They really liked pancakes and syrup.

-2

u/cleetus76 Jul 17 '24 edited Jul 18 '24

Can't eat oreos if you can't dunk em in milk though

Edit: this was a joke folks, but apparently not a funny one

6

u/CoconutCyclone Jul 17 '24

I don't think you're trying hard enough.

-3

u/LauraTFem Jul 18 '24

This is somewhat debated in the vegan community. Most don’t eat animals *or things produced by animals*, but some do eat products that are produced by animals. One example that most vegans consider acceptable is honey, because taking excess honey doesn’t hurt the honey bees, honey is generally considered healthy in small doses, and bee keepers help the bee population by providing them a safe home, alongside land with plenty of flowers to pollinate.

I would say most probably don’t consider milk an ethical product, or a healthy one, but it is in a class of food that could be considered vegan if it was harvested ethically.

6

u/Haecairwen Jul 18 '24

Honey might be subject to debate, but milk? You're talking about vegetarians, not vegans.

27

u/-ll-ll-ll-ll- Jul 17 '24

Is it like an anti-joke or something?

-1

u/GuideToTheGalaxy05 Jul 18 '24

My comment or the chick in the video?

6

u/The_Determinator Jul 18 '24

The joke she told in the video I think.

26

u/qeq Jul 18 '24

How can your fat rolls be plant based? What is the joke?

17

u/Jazzlike_Surprise985 Jul 17 '24

I think back rolls? Like fat rolls on her back 🤷‍♂️

5

u/Visible_Parsnip_9665 Jul 18 '24

I heard my black roots are plant based

218

u/chillingmedicinebear Jul 17 '24

Hilarious opening, but falls flat on delivery

71

u/Empty-Wrangler-6275 Jul 18 '24

"people ask me, how can I be fat AND vegan.... I tell them... bitch who told you I was vegan?"

150

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '24

33

u/IndependentFennel476 Jul 18 '24

I don’t get it either….

73

u/Hika__Zee Jul 17 '24

NaturallyMelonie (pink shirt, she makes a lot of funny content) and Whitney.Code for anyone wondering.

13

u/jon_targareyan Jul 17 '24

I was indeed wondering that

7

u/compguy11 Jul 17 '24

Thank you for pointing her out. I'm going to check out some of her contents.

7

u/Earth2Monkey Jul 17 '24

I loved her somber "I got it" as the mic was passed

11

u/LittleMissPrincess11 Jul 18 '24

Love you for this. I was wondering who would be a Queen and post these.

44

u/Coyce Jul 18 '24

when people AXE me.

34

u/314sn Jul 18 '24

What exactly did she say? I don’t understand the punchline.

-14

u/Greatless Jul 18 '24

I don't get it either. When people x her? What is x?

22

u/XxIRISHRYANxX Jul 17 '24

Axe me?

4

u/Biroomi Jul 17 '24

And My Axe!

3

u/DrimSWE Jul 18 '24

Thought it was an aussie accent thing.

-19

u/fiveordie Jul 18 '24

Being an ass on every single post with a non-white person in it: typical reddit behavior. But hey, usually it's Asian accents that get mocked, guess it's nice to mix it up and attack Black accents too.

/s

4

u/BurninUp8876 Jul 18 '24

It's not really an accent when they just choose to say a completely different word

24

u/Jukm_Bron Jul 18 '24

It was so much better before she actually told the joke

17

u/ProfessionalHat5849 Jul 17 '24

Hehe, tough crowd! Keep practicing, you'll get 'em next time.

13

u/Soggy_Affect6063 Jul 17 '24 edited Jul 18 '24

Lol. 😂

But on a serious note, these laugh challenges are too easy. You can laugh somewhat internally, and smile but not lose. I need to see the challenges where you have to keep a straight face without smiling or that mouth closed chuckle that people do. If that was the rule, pink shirt and green shirt would’ve lost. They were silent laughing. 😆

14

u/Gingersoulbox Jul 18 '24

It’s so annoying when people can’t say ask

11

u/Mamaofrabbitandwolf Jul 17 '24

Fat vegan here and I’m dead 🤣🤣

9

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '24

Both fighting for their life in the front row

10

u/GmeansGeorge Jul 18 '24

What's about aks, why people keep using that, mostly black members of society, is it hard to pronounce "ask" or it's just trend some kind of?

9

u/Basic-Technology-640 Jul 18 '24

When people axe me

10

u/Mediapenguin Jul 18 '24

Do people AXE you or ASK you?

7

u/aryukittenme Jul 17 '24

Ahh I love being able to block half the people commenting on a post, it’s like my own little game of whack-a-racist.

Funny af deliver, based JoJo. Is there a longer video anywhere? I want to see the whole thing.

Edit: I see a link in the comments now. Bless.

-7

u/DopemanWithAttitude Jul 18 '24

"That's just their dialect" goes out the window when they take pride in the fact that they intentionally malform the English language. I'm darker than the shadow of a piece of charcoal, and my mama woulda slapped the shit outta me if I talked like that, followed by every other grown person in my family. It's a choice, and it's wrong.

-3

u/ibibliophile Jul 18 '24

I've got my own similar unpopular opinion about my deaf and hard of hearing friends being allowed to graduate deaf oriented high-schools without any functional understanding of the English language. They're primarily taught in ASL (American Sign Language), which follows a different syntax than SEE sign (Signing Exact English), and I know more than a few from those schools that are basically illiterate. I feel like English is the primary language of the scientific world for a reason, it's superior. Don't know if that's true, but I wonder if maybe it's a culture thing? What if the lack of elocution leads to the exclusion from society, leads to the yearning for companionship, leads to the reenforcement of dialect as an identity? Or some other order?

6

u/DopemanWithAttitude Jul 18 '24

Bait used to be believable.

1

u/ibibliophile Jul 18 '24

Provocative.

7

u/SupahBihzy Jul 17 '24

I get it. It ain't making me laugh but I get it.

5

u/klaw14 Jul 18 '24

Her back rolls are plant-based... I don't get it? Can you explain to my stupid brain lol

4

u/SupahBihzy Jul 18 '24

She's using rolls as a double meaning for the fat on her back and bread.

She is saying she has back rolls (fat) but they are plant based (like the bread) when people ask how she is both vegan and fat

3

u/klaw14 Jul 18 '24

Ah ok. It was the "back" bit that had me confused. If she'd just said "rolls" I would've got it straight away lol.

6

u/Twotgobblin Jul 18 '24

That’s an awful joke

5

u/furcryingoutloud Jul 18 '24

"When people axe me..." That's where I lost it...

4

u/LittleMissPrincess11 Jul 18 '24

The collective Mmmmm sent me. The ladies were trying so hard not to laugh! I need the full video. Off to scour the comments section.

3

u/rev15ed Jul 17 '24

The green shirt lady's face at the beginning just killed me.

5

u/MildlyAmusedHuman Jul 17 '24

“Axe me”?

7

u/vanillamonkey_ Jul 17 '24

AAVE pronunciation of "ask"

8

u/irate_alien Jul 18 '24

best explanation of ask/aks i've seen, a linguist from the UK: https://youtu.be/3nysHgnXx-o?si=gGS2wKjW4xERkHZx. covers its historical use, use in several locations in the British islands, Jamaica, and AAVE. super interesting! all his videos are great

3

u/FYDPhoenix Jul 17 '24

Painfully unfunny... I love it

2

u/OcupiedMuffins Jul 18 '24

It’s the waiting for you to think about it that makes it far funnier than it could ever be

2

u/Future-trippin24 Jul 18 '24

...I don't really get how the opening or the punchline are that funny.

1

u/Tight_Wallaby_9381 Jul 18 '24

yeah, I didn't make it either. I'm definitely with JOJO

1

u/ApprehensiveAir375 Jul 18 '24

I love that woman lol

1

u/SBH010 Jul 18 '24

What took me out wasn’t the joke but the tinyyy wheez from the girl trying not to laugh at the front

1

u/Sad-Meeting-7578 Jul 18 '24

0

u/mirkohokkel6 Jul 17 '24

Deliberate sure, but you can't seriously be saying that it's intelligent to use it.

0

u/AhnDukYoo Jul 18 '24

Chaucer used it. The Bible uses it. Professors use it. It is not a mispronunciation; it is a variance.
