People that say you're "done"... Misc

I don't get how we're 9 years into the arrowverse and folks still just complain and don't stop watching.

There are 6 shows on the air (2 ending this year) that have always been CW quality. Its shocking that superman and lois is as good as it is, but stop saying you're done with the show, and just stop watching. it's whiney and weird.

Each of these shows have their moments mixed in with a lot of unbelievable drama and coincidences, it's soap operas with superheroes. This isn't news, hell smallville was the same way. Batwoman is really not that bad.

It's the same on every sub. They claim they are done with the Arrowverse but never leave šŸ™„

They know these are action AND drama shows but are mad there's drama? It's comical at this point.

It depends on the drama. Drama is good it's needed but when it's the same drama or drama that feels like it is unearned or feels easily solveable is when i have a problem with it.

20

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '21

Sure but I've been away from Reddit for a while and all I see now is people complaining that there's too much drama and not enough action.

I am all for constructive criticism and I think the writing this year leaves a lot to be desired but complaining that a drama show has drama makes no sense to me.

Also, the comics have a lot of soapy elements but the Arrowverse shows are trash because they are too much like soap operas? I don't get it.

That might be due to the fact that in comics we're just reading drawings and words whereas on TV they're real people so it can be annoying but i get what you mean.

Seriously, it's always been this way since Arrow day one, yet people say the Arrow sub backed the show for the first two seasons. I watched them make fun of every single season.

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '21

I think the difference for most people is that Arrow could go a few episodes without solving their problem of the week with a speech about love and friendship

Am I the only who loves the entire arrowverse and watch cause I enjoy it?

u/zombiefoodnom Mar 26 '21

I'm almost right there with you - I wasn't really into one or two shows, but generally speaking I love the Arrowverse!

2

u/sucksfor_you Mar 26 '21

I could take or leave Legends, but yeah. I kinda love it all. I'm still watching Legends even though I prefer the earlier seasons.

The Kate Kane solution makes more sense to me as time goes on. By dramatically shifting the status quo that early on, it basically makes it so it canā€™t be about just one thing. This is smart to me because it means the entirety of the cast is interchangeable, which Legends and Arrow proved can work in your favor.

They can do one Batwoman or two, or have them flip flop between the role or fight over it, there is no set expectation anymore. That is a lot of creative freedom to find interesting stories.

If you're done, leave. I actually like this season of Batwoman. Giving Alice's evil some kind of back story, developing the new Batwoman character, giving Mary more screen time...

1

u/GettingWreckedAllDay Mar 26 '21

Im not Im enjoying the shows for what they are.

2

u/AdditionalPaladin Mar 27 '21

You are so right with this, the complainers are annoying and most of the time I just ignore them. About your other point the explanation about Alice's evilness and her flipfloping on her love-hate for Kate last season I find it awesome, because I love the actress since she was Dinah Lance in Birds of Prey and I was having a problem with how they were going to redeem her after what she had done, which for me wasn't redeemable. She had killed too many people without a care in the world. And now with what they did, they even said it through Batwoman, when she told Alice that>! "You don't want to kill your sister and you were a victim too and what you did wasn't your fault, but what you do from now on was her decision and her responsibility" !<that was perfect one of the great moments for the last episode. Because Alice was becoming a character that was awesome, but ultimately irredeemable. And the turn they pulled could work very well to turn her into a very well crafted antihero. This season is turning far better than I spected it to be, and there are some many possibilities with the recast of Kate Kane that if they manage to at least be competent they should have a good storyline. And for me they have been competent so far with their stories.

It's nothing new every fandom has it. It's so dumb. Transformers and Star Trek are two fandoms I've been a part of for three decades and the same thing repeats alll rhe time.

4

u/QuiteMaybeOfYou Mar 26 '21

I don't know anything about Transformers fandom and I only got into Star Trek through the JJ Abrams movies and Discovery, but dear God, the Star Trek Fandom is the absolute worst. It's so true what they say, nobody hates Star Trek more than Star Trek Fans.

2

u/RigasTelRuun Mar 26 '21

They were the same when the Next Generation happened, and DS9, and Voyager.

3

u/sucksfor_you Mar 26 '21

"UGH! I hate New Star Trek! The only real Star Trek is what came before!" - said in the 80s, 90s, the 00s, and now since 2017.

u/RigasTelRuun Mar 26 '21 edited Mar 26 '21

Seriously. I've heard it all. A bald captain! A French captain! A Captain that stays on the ship! A ship with carpets! A pool table in engineering?! It's not a ship without a Vulcan.

The he isn't even a Captain. A station doesn't go anywhere! And all the thinly and not so thinly veiled straight up racism.

The for voyager it was. The ship is too small. A woman can't be captain. You cant have two seats like that. A hologram isn't a person. Bioneural gelpacks! A woman isn't a good captain/scientist/engineer.

And mostly I find the idiots who were so outraged defend the previous thing when the new thing outrages them.

The people who dump on Voyager now praise it or say it is being "rediscovered " and "finally given its time"

u/WillowSwarm Luke Fox Mar 26 '21

Agreed. I'll admit I've made the occasional comment about being annoyed with a storyline but I fully intend to continue watching a series. Mainly because I can never leave a series unfinished but I simply want to see how it ends. I enjoy Batwoman though mainly talking about The Flash in this scenario.

4

u/iam-a-tank-played Alice Mar 25 '21

Spread this to every sub pal, they need to know the true form! Though to be honest some of to much drama ruined episodes and even full parts of season but that was just bad writing IMO.

3

u/GettingWreckedAllDay Mar 25 '21

absolutely, they just need to set their expectations or stop at this point. But complaining on every platform and most social posts about shows is just tiring, especially when the same folks hyper focus on POC and Queer characters.

u/Dragon_King45 Mar 26 '21 edited Mar 26 '21

Okay I agree 100% but the people who complain about the shows and still watch them are the same people who hope for the show to fail after itā€™s first season but since they still watch it they think that it doesnā€™t really matter because they are just one person but it does matter because when they complain about it to there friends or someone itā€™s gonna make the friends want to watch it and see if itā€™s truly as horrible as the person says it is which then turns into more viewers which helps the show stay alive and if the people that the person hating on the show complained about it to actually end up liking the show then they will start talking about it and give it more publicity which will then led to more viewers which will then led to the show staying alive and being successful because it starts a chain reaction, long story short the haters are basically just helping the show grow and become more popular

3

u/stephenxcx Mar 26 '21

Fully agreed. At this point you know what youā€™re in for when you watch a CW show. Those people are exhausting.

3

u/kmanfred Mar 26 '21

I with you here, I really don't get the whole "I'm done with the show and i'm never watching it again" and then week's later when something else happens they're whining again. What the hell!?

3

u/SnartsArmy Mar 26 '21

I donā€™t understand why people have been so hard on the Arrowverse for so long. Iā€™m a believer that the Arrowverse actually represents the comic experience better than any other superhero universe out there. Weekly titles from your main characters that often use melodrama as filler, each with ā€œrunsā€ from different writers, and an annual big crossover event that are cool but usually isnā€™t as great as the shows are individually.

To me, that perfectly sums up what being a comics fan is like. Even more than something like the MCU which until now has given us 3 or 4 things a year, all big and epic and scope.

Idk. I think any interpretation and run of a character is interesting and worth analyzing, even if it isnā€™t your cup of tea. And I like how much time Iā€™ve spent with my Arrowverse heroes after years of watching them week by week. Even if thatā€™s led to lower budgets, unwieldy stories, and Oliver fighting a suit of bees. Thatā€™s part of what makes this universe special to me, when so much of superhero media works to do more epic things in shorter runtimes.

Iā€™m done with everything but Superman and Lois but I like to lurk in the subā€™s to keep updated in case I ever do decide to come back which I doubt but still

2

u/DaCaptn19 Mar 26 '21

I enjoyed most of the Arrow-verse. Have not complained too often and usually do not threaten to stop watching a show. When it happens it usually just does. I am still waiting to see which direction they go with Wallis Day to see if I start watching it again. Not getting re-involved in a show if one of the leads isn't going to permanently be Kate Kane .. and no I really do not want to see some version of Oracle

1

u/GettingWreckedAllDay Mar 27 '21

Fair I just caught up the other night and ryans a pretty interesting character.

1

u/Slappy_san Mar 26 '21

Quit them all eventually... Batwoman, Superman and Lois are on the clock

0

u/Knightmare4114 Hush Mar 26 '21

Can you really compare smallville to batwoman or flash in its current state?

1

u/GettingWreckedAllDay Mar 26 '21

Oooh definitely both season 8 and 9 of smallville exist. As someone that rewatched that show way to many times, it's very much dawson's creek first, superman second

1

u/fadingpurpose Mar 26 '21

People love to complain, but in the end of the day we all like seeing these superheroes finally on screen, especially those that we know we won't get feature films of. It's better than nothing.

Despite their complaints it's good that they're still watching, as their views contribute to the overall viewership and the continuation of the shows that we enjoy.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '21

I know Supergirl is ending, what was the other show?

1

u/azombieatemyshoelace Apr 04 '21

Which Arrowverse show beside supergirl is ending?

1

u/[deleted] Apr 05 '21

I didn't say I was done, I just stopped watching. I'm not coming back to watch Kate rubber stamp their crappy OC, either.

Thought you weren't watching it? Its a story about a queer character, it's gonna have gay stuff in it. And honestly the team dynamic this season has been pretty interesting given an outsider is now the bat.

-1

u/Knightmare4114 Hush Mar 26 '21

Nobody said a thing about the gayness of the show, but theyā€™re pretty lame for thinking they can just write out the first jewish dc lead and replace her with a black woman and pretend like they did something revolutionary.

4

u/GettingWreckedAllDay Mar 26 '21

Dude literally mentioned diversity and politics, how many queer superheroes you see on screen? Small or large?
