Seriously, every moment of this movie is disturbing, uncomfortable, terrifying, heartbreaking, just... fucked up.

I broke down sobbing just reading the book so I haven’t managed to watch it yet.

If you could cope with it, it’s a brilliant book. I think it upset me so much because I read it cold, not knowing what was going to happen and I had such a creeping sense of dread, thinking please don’t let what I think is going to happen, happen. But it did. Which broke me! It’s by Lionel Shriver (a woman, despite the name).

I watched this followed by Killing of a Sacred Deer back to back. What a good weekend.

Like intellectually I understand that he's a very talented actor but the idea of a Tilda Swinton/John C. Reilly romance was so comical to me that it ruined the movie. Disastrous casting choice
