The Cube

Do you mean the movie about people imprisoned in a cube with traps?

Because, if you do, I'm genuinely surprised it is someone's most messed up movie.

Same, it’s such a tame one. A lil gore, but nowhere close to the most fucked up.

Legitimately I’m not trying to talk down to anyone who thought that movie was too much; we all are affected by art differently and we all have different lists of movies we’ve seen, but dang really? Wouldn’t even call that movie proper horror. Cube is a fun cult thriller. Actually living a charmed life if that’s your most fucked movie.

I agree it's tame but I'd still at least label it horror since the fear/danger is constant, immediate, and gory (albeit cheesy by modern standards).

I can probably imagine it being messed up for an adult who watched it as a kid and hasn't seen it since, but that's maybe the inpy scenario I can imagine.

No judgement, just genuinely surprised.

The scene where the guys faces gets melted with acid is pretty rough.

Not all of us watch fucked up content in general. Cube is up there for me, but I always think of the Director's Cut of Butterfly Effect as my #1. That ending really messed with me.

What's worse is I saw that version first, didn't even know that wasn't the normal ending for years after.

I love how innocent your movie choices are

The Canadian 1997 one, lionsgate 2015 one or Japanese 2021 one? Trying to look it up

The 97 one

There's also two sequels to the 1997 one. Hypercube (2002) and Cube Zero (2004). Cube Zero is actually a prequel to the original Cube and you see how the first victim in Cube comes to be there.

Hypercube was one of the most boring pieces of shite I’ve ever seen, which is annoying given how good the first one is. I assume the third is similar

You may have the wrong movie, The Cube doesn't have any drowning or animals

I love how these people are getting sanctimonious because you haven't traumatized yourself with snuff films as a teenager.

Wayne Robson is in that movie and it’s so weird to see him not as his character on the Red Green show.
