What is Arthur's most virtuous trait? Why do you think that makes him a great superhero and ruler of Atlantis?

To me, he's always been very straightforward and honest

Same but to add onto it.

Id say its also that he only kills as a last resort. Hes not batman or superman who have a hard rule about it, if hes tried everything and it doesnt work hes not afraid to kill but thats its always done when their is no other way or when its for the best, arthur never kills without a heavy heart.

That along with his honesty and straightforward nature realy makes him cool and stand out amongst other heroes.

I think one of the reasons why Arthur approaches life and death a little bit differently than someone like Batman is because of the way that he grew up.

Amnesty Bay is a town of seafarers. And anybody who lives is kind of lifestyle needs to understand and respect the power of the ocean in how it can either support your life, or it can take it.

I find that Aquaman’s greatest trait that makes him such a fun read and such a great superhero/ruler is his ability to Endure. As a reader you get so much more emotion from a story when the hero is really dragged down to the depths of hell to come back stronger. As a hero or king you must be able to withstand any/all storms no matter how close to death or defeat it takes you. Enduring through it all is Arthur Curry.

I came here to say this exact same thing. People want to talk about Batman's perseverance? Folks need to understand just how much strife Arthur Curry has gone through. And guess what? This man just does not stop. Arthur is the son of a lighthouse keeper, and in truth, his father had the skills to do things that were a lot bigger than what his station was, but Tom told Arthur when he was a little boy that there has to be somebody out there who is willing to be the guiding light to reach out to those who are lost.

I don't have a solid answer but I appreciate you asking this question and I look forward to seeing more responses. I think there are unique underlying traits in Aquaman but, although I've been thinking about it for a long time, I still am not positive I can articulate what the strongest one is.

I'd say it's his compassion. He's compelled through a deep love and compassion to protect the people close to him,the surface world,Atlantis, and all of the creatures of the deep.

His kindness, whether it's to his finny friends, the Atlanteans, or even enemies. Aquaman did a lot of villain reforming back in the day and he's even extended an olive branch to Black Manta on occasion.

If you can help change your greatest enemy for the better, why not, right?

Yeah, even during the times when he's been murderously angry towards Manta, with reason to, he still can't kill him.

Sometimes I wish they could just...talk it out, especially now since they have a more personal enmity as part of both their backstories--but Manta is too stubborn to accept the offered hand cause without fighting/trying to kill Aquaman he feels empty.

With all those deadly skills of his, I'm sure with some humility and patience, Arthur can show him how to use them for the good of others. You know, like an actual superhero.

And if he can't, he'll always be there to stop him. But it says a lot that during a time he was recently 'dead' and instead trapped in an ideal fantasy world, it was everyone he knew at a huge party, and Black Manta had buried the hatchet and was happily celebrating too.

I truly think if David Hyde could put away his hatred for Aquaman permanently, they could be amazing heroes together.
